With billions of dollars coming to Alaska, there’s no better time to get into the telecom field. Telecom work is here to stay for the foreseeable future. Alaska is not immune to the talent shortages telecoms are grappling with nationwide, so we decided to do something about it. We teamed up with MTA Solutions to promote the world-class training programs available right here in Alaska. At the Alaska Joint Electrical Apprenticeship and Training Trust, students of all ages and backgrounds EARN while they learn. He's an apprentice employee in Homer where he’s learning all aspects of our work, with a focus on CO/data. He is passionate about advocacy and is thankful to those who have brought him up and supported his career growth. Dustin hopes to leave a lasting impact on others as he builds his career in telecom. As an influx of telecom work comes to our state, we’ve teamed up with MTA Solutions and the Alaska Joint Electrical Apprenticeship and Training Trust to encourage Alaskans to consider telecom careers. The Alaska FiberOptic Project is a collaboration between Calista Corporation, Doyon, Limited, Gana-A 'Yoo Limited, Tanana Chiefs Conference and Alaska Communications to provide reliable, affordable broadband to communities along the Yukon and Kuskokwim Rivers. We made the most of Alaska’s long summer days advancing this first-of-its-kind project forward. Meet Cary, a foreman in Anchorage. Originally from California, he moved to Alaska in the 70s. He joined our company in 1998 and is known for his dedication to customer service. Cary is a man of many interests and talents, from singing country music and supporting local music events to epic outdoor adventures backcountry skiing, hiking and fat tire biking.
