Updates

  • ANTHC is partnering with communities across Alaska to improve water and sanitation for Alaska Native people. This is possible thanks to the federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). The IIJA funding is being used to ensure that Alaska Native people have access to a safe supply of drinking water, reliable sewage systems and solid waste disposal facilities. ANTHC is working with Tribes and communities to expand access to clean water to more people in rural Alaska. To learn more about the IIJA, visit anthc.org/water-wellness

  • The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium is among countless organizations experiencing operational challenges related to a global IT outage. While we have organized an incident command to urgently restore all systems at the Alaska Native Medical Center and campus-wide, our emergency services and specialty clinics remain open. Patients needing health care can visit the hospital or clinic for care. We are prioritizing solutions in clinical areas, using downtime procedures as needed, and continue to provide the highest level of patient care possible.

  • The EPA’s Environmental and Climate Justice Community Change Grants program (Community Change Grants) has announced a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for approximately $2 billion dollars in Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) funds in environmental and climate justice activities to benefit disadvantaged communities through projects that reduce pollution, increase community climate resilience, and build community capacity to address environmental and climate justice challenges. These place-based investments will be focused on community-driven initiatives to be responsive to community and stakeholder input. They are designed to deliver on the transformative potential of the IRA for communities most adversely and disproportionately impacted by climate change, legacy pollution, and historical disinvestments. • For those of us with access to clean, running water, something as simple as handwashing may be taken for granted. But for Alaskans facing the challenge of water insecurity, maintaining hand hygiene is a conscious effort every single day. That’s why ANTHC is partnering with communities across Alaska to improve water and sanitation connections for more Alaska Native people. Learn more about our process at anthc.org/water-wellness
