Real heroes, real rescues. In a daring rescue, the Alaska Air National Guard swooped in to save four paddle boarders caught in harsh conditions near Byers Lake. Their quick action and professionalism turned a potentially tragic day into a testament to teamwork and training. Thank you to our guardians in the skies! 🚁🌊 #AirNationalGuard #HeroicRescue #PaddleSafety #ByersLake #TeamworkSavesLives #MilitaryExcellence #toml Link to article: https://lnkd.in/eFvGKGqs 📸: Alejandro Peña

This is why training matters. In 2017, an explosion aboard a huge Slovenian bulk carrier ship killed 2 crew members and seriously burned 2 more. The explosion happened aboard the 623-foot Tamar at about 7 a.m. when the ship was 1,300 miles off Cape Cod — halfway to its destination in Portugal. The New York Air National Guard’s 106th Rescue Wing launched an HC-130 aircrew with pararescuers to meet up with the tanker. The Tamar rescue marked the first open ocean jump mission for the 106th Rescue Wing in 15 years. As a direct result of the pararescue team’s care, both injured sailors survived with minimal long-lasting injuries. About a month after the rescue, Slovenian President Pahor presented nearly 20 members of the wing with Slovenia’s Medal for Merit in the Military Field. In June 2023, the seven members of the team who jumped to the Tamar were awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal for heroism for the challenging mission. Five were PJs with the New York Air National Guard’s 103rd Rescue Squadron, and two were #combatrescueofficers, or CROs. #thesethingswedo #thatothersmaylive #thesethingswedothatothersmaylive #NYANG #pararescueman #pararescue #pararescuemen #CRO

This a great program and great organization.
One of our own, Jason Lee, is coordinating an event to support a program for veterans in his home state of Montana. The program is called Upper Canyon Outreach - "Upper Canyon Outreach is a Montana-based non-profit providing active military and veterans a proven framework of psychological tools to help develop self-awareness and cognitive team building. Through the development of horsemanship skills, participants harness neural pathways that support the process of integrating separate areas of their lives promoting self-improvement as an individual and team." https://lnkd.in/eD-vzku4 This is a unique and proven practical resource for veterans going through the abyss. Please take a moment to visit the event link. Thank you! https://lnkd.in/e3GvYBcE
