Building in-house pharmacies for safety net clinics

About us

We build and operate in-house pharmacies for safety net clinics, with a focus on STD clinics, Ryan Whites, and FQHCs serving patients living with HIV and Hepatitis C. We provide the entire physical, clinical, and digital infrastructure needed to operate and grow best-in-class 340B pharmacy programs. Our team has deep clinical pharmacy, technology, and operations experience. Together, we have spent 18 years in Africa building the largest HIV access program in the world, and we have set up, operated and scaled pharmacies that have dispensed over 25M+ prescriptions to patients across all 50 states in the US. After setting up your in-house pharmacy, we design and implement clinical pharmacy programs and deploy technology products that leverage your pharmacy to expand patient reach, improve clinical outcomes, and increase the financial impact of your 340B program. We are on a mission to serve safety net clinics and their patients. Drop us a line at hello@alchemyhealth.com.

At Alchemy, Peter Park and I have been in touch with Secretary Kennedy’s team at U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) regarding the recent news headlines around funding cuts to HIV prevention and structural changes to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s division for HIV prevention. The key message and area we wanted to focus on was the critical link between HIV prevention and the CDC’s Section 318 Grants. These are the grants that every STD clinic in the country uses in order to qualify for the 340B drug program Our message to Secretary Kennedy’s team was simple =>  𝗪𝗲 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 318 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗜𝗩 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆, and we highlighted two main reasons. 1. 𝗛𝗜𝗩 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 318 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗔𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘀. The CDC’s Section 318 grants support STD clinics that serve ALL parts of the American population, specifically impacting white, straight, male, rural HIV patients in our country.  2. HIV prevention grants (or more broadly, STD grants) are 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗺𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲. Every dollar conferred through grant funding force multiplies 3:1 (or even greater) through 340B program savings. Since Section 318 grants allow clinics to participate in the 340B drug program, and at its core, the 340B program is funded by pharmaceutical manufacturers through discounts vs. direct taxpayer dollars, every dollar of Section 318 grants is essentially “matched and multiplied" by manufacturers through 340B program discounts. • Alchemy is thrilled to be partnered with Banc of California! Through this partnership we’re supporting our clinic partners with the financing they need to build and launch in-house pharmacies—without the burden of a large upfront cash outlay. This debt financing fuels growth and allows clinics to focus their time and resources on what matters most: exceptional patient care.
