“My experience in this community as a young student laid the foundation for me to flourish. It’s why my wife Hillary and I enrolled our two children and continue to call this our home away from home. That sense of community is always present - made stronger for me because my mother was a teacher here. I remember when she was teaching and the hours would run late, my primary guide, Ms. Cathy Anderson, would always have snacks for me in her room. It was such a small thing that made a big impression on me. It’s a theme that continues at Alcuin to this day.” - Ian Galbraith #AlcuinSchool #IAmAlcuin #AlcuinLife

Throwing it back to last week's amazing commencement ceremonies, when we celebrated the #classof2024 with so many family, friends and faculty in attendance. #alcuinproud

When nature puts on a showstopping spectacle, we’re here for it. Alcuin students, faculty and staff took in the once-in-a-lifetime total solar eclipse as the celestial event swept across Dallas. Before the eclipse descended upon campus, Upper School students prepared Middle School, Elementary, and Primary students for what they were about to witness by giving them interactive lessons about the eclipse throughout the morning. Then, it was showtime. #totalityrocks #solareclipse

Seniors recently hit a major milestone on their way to graduation, and the Alcuin community was eager to celebrate at the first annual Extended Essay Preview and Banquet! The event showcased college-level research projects seniors have been preparing since their junior year. The Extended Essay is a 4,000 word essay and involves a great deal of research, preparing seniors for university-level writing. It is one of three International Baccalaureate Core components, with CAS and TOK. Seniors first presented their projects to their peers and members of the faculty and staff. The event was followed by an evening dinner with students, their families, and the Upper School faculty and staff. Congratulations to all seniors on a phenomenal job well done!

Grandparents and Special Friends were eager to find their little Hawks yesterday as campus was filled to the brim with smiles, laughter, and a whole lot of gratitude ahead of the Thanksgiving break. Students gave their guests a tour around the classroom, made a visit to the Book Fair, snapped a photo button pic, and made their way into the gym for a few special student performances before starting the holiday week.

Alcuin's incredibly talented faculty regularly goes above and beyond for students. Upper School Language and Literature teacher Evan McGarvey recently caught the eye of The Dallas Morning News for establishing the high school's peer editing program, which pairs some of the best writers in the senior class with freshmen looking to improve their own writing skills.
