After you break your 5ft pipe wrench trying to remove a gland nut in the #field... you just kinda stare at the #cylinder for awhile... (my daughter was hanging with me and took a picture) Then you remove it and take it to the #shop to disassemble and reseal. Minor hiccup, but that's how #fieldservice works... gotta keep rolling. Cleaning #machines helps control accumulation of debris, especially in nooks and cranies. This skid steer needed loader frame bushings and pins due to wear, however the retaining bolts were nearly corroded away inside coupler. We made quick work of what was left of the bolt heads so we could drive pins and bushings out. #weld up bushings and quench, then drive out. New pins, bushings and hardware installed, no more play. This #machines #fuel system was very unhappy.... the worst part, it's all avoidable. Customer called with extremely hard start and no power. Lets break it down. 1. Diesel fuel inherently attracts moisture from the air, but having no fuel cap or scheduled maintenance (filters, sample, drain tank) then you are asking for compounding trouble. 2. Filling your tank is inherently a risk to adding foreign materials to the tank. This case was particularly unique, as we removed (4) fuel can nozzles, along with lots of water and sludge. 3. Filters have a service life, and depending on context should be monitored and changed regularly. 4. Fuel lines that leak, in this case on the low pressure inlet should be repaired or replaced correctly. Do not add sealants or additional o-rings to compression fittings or ferral fittings. This inlet was plugged by someone trying to add a o-ring... Yes we fixed this machine and it's running correctly now, but the customer is aware that likely some damage has already been done to the system. This machines injection pump was also loose on mounts aiding to hard start as the timing was off... Call Align Machine Company to have your machines ACTUALLY inspected for a root cause.
