📣 Navigating the U.S. Department of Justice Updated Corporate Compliance Requirements: What Healthcare Enterprises Need to Know About AI Compliance 📣 The DOJ’s recent updates to its Evaluation of Corporate Compliance Programs (ECCP) bring new focus on how companies manage the risks associated with emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI). As AI becomes more integrated into healthcare operations, compliance standards are evolving rapidly, and the ECCP sets the bar higher for companies to demonstrate the effectiveness of their compliance efforts. 🔍 Key ECCP Highlights for AI Compliance: 🎯 Risk Management: Companies must assess and mitigate AI-related risks, ensuring compliance with criminal laws and regulatory standards. 🎯 Policies and Procedures: Regularly updated compliance policies must address AI-specific risks. 🎯 Governance and Monitoring: Establishing robust governance for AI use is essential, along with ongoing monitoring to detect and address issues. 🎯 Training: Educating employees on AI risks is crucial for maintaining compliance. 🎯 Data Access and Analytics: Compliance teams need access to relevant data to monitor AI systems and demonstrate program effectiveness. At ALIGNMT AI, we are committed to helping healthcare enterprises stay ahead of these emerging regulatory requirements. Our platform provides automated compliance and governance solutions that empower organizations to: ✅ Proactively manage AI risks with continuous assessments. ✅ Automate policy updates in line with evolving regulations. ✅ Strengthen AI governance with monitoring and data integration tools. ✅ Educate employees with targeted training modules on AI compliance. 💡 Staying compliant isn’t just about meeting the standards of today—it’s about anticipating tomorrow’s challenges. Let’s work together to ensure that your compliance program isn’t just effective—it’s future-proof. #HealthcareCompliance #AICompliance #DOJ #AIRegulations #RiskManagement #EnterpriseCompliance #HealthcareAI #Governance #Regulation #RiskManagement

I'll talk a bit more in the future about what I've been up to but a few months ago I connected with Andreea Bodnari and ALIGNMT AI. We're taking a look into governance for AI usage in the Healthcare industry. How do we ensure AIs are free from bias, accurate, and secure. How can they be observed over time? How are they certified? I think these questions are going to present huge challenges for all AI companies and getting in front of some of the most important evolving use cases is a big opportunity. Andreea is the perfect person to go after this space. She has the right domain experience, a solid vision, and an intense personal drive. I'm greatly looking forward to the path ahead! (oh, and yeah, we're HIRING)

A recent workshop by Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI) brought together experts to discuss challenges propose solutions around Artificial Intelligence safety, bias, and data security. Participants highlighted specific limitations of current regulatory frameworks, originally designed for physical devices and analog data. They called for modernized regulations to keep pace with AI advancements, emphasizing the need for public-private partnerships, transparent communication, and patient involvement to ensure safe and equitable AI deployment. 🔔 AI Software as a Medical Device 🔹 Current Challenges: The FDA’s clearance process is cumbersome for AI products with multiple diagnostic capabilities, hindering innovation. 🔹 Proposed Solutions: Streamlining market approval processes, enhancing post-market surveillance, and improving information sharing. 🔔 Enterprise Clinical Operations and Administration: 🔹 Debate: Whether to require human oversight for autonomous AI tools in clinical settings. 🔹Considerations: Balancing safety and efficiency, transparency about AI use, and defining responsibilities for AI tool developers. 🔔 Patient-Facing AI Applications: 🔹 Challenges: The lack of targeted regulations for patient-facing AI tools, such as mental health chatbots, which may give misleading medical information. 🔹 Proposals: Clarifying regulatory statuses and ensuring patient perspectives are integrated into AI development and deployment processes. Addressing these regulatory gaps requires multidisciplinary research and stakeholder collaboration. Reach out to learn how ALIGNMT AI can support your enterprise on the journey towards AI governance! #AI #Regulation #Compliance #DigitalHealth #AIgovernance #transparency

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) HTI-2 proposed rule is out for feedback and we're thrilled to have an insightful summary from John Travis linked below. Highlighting few updates as they pertain to activities around Decision Support Intervention (b11) or otherwise known as #artificialintelligence requirements: 📣 If the latest version of the US Core Data for Interoperability (USCDI v4) is adopted, all the data categories and specific details (data elements) within it would automatically become potential source data attributes for the Artificial Intelligence criteria known as "b11". This means any developer creating electronic health technology (HIT) that wants to be certified under b11 would be required to support these data elements. 📣 The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) requires developers of certified health IT (HIT) products to confirm their compliance with b11 criteria twice a year. This confirmation involves reviewing and updating their source attribute information for their certified product. 📣 The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) is making certain security requirements mandatory for developers seeking certification under the b11 criteria. These security requirements cover aspects like user authentication, access control, data encryption, and audit logging. While compliance with these security measures is mandatory by January 1st, 2028, new entrants and startup developers, particularly those in the field of AI, should be aware of these requirements from the beginning to avoid delays in the certification process. #ONC hashtag#CEHRT hashtag#CuresAct hashtag#healthit hashtag#hit hashtag#ehr hashtag#hipaa hashtag#cms
