About us

For more than forty years, AlixPartners has helped businesses around the world respond quickly and decisively to their most critical challenges – circumstances as diverse as urgent performance improvement, accelerated transformation, complex restructuring and risk mitigation. These are the moments when everything is on the line – a sudden shift in the market, an unexpected performance decline, a time-sensitive deal, a fork-in-the-road decision. But it’s not what we do that makes a difference, it’s how we do it. Tackling situations when time is of the essence is part of our DNA – so we adopt an action-oriented approach at all times. We work in small, highly qualified teams with specific industry and functional expertise, and we operate at pace, moving quickly from analysis to implementation. We stand shoulder to shoulder with our clients until the job is done, and only measure our success in terms of the results we deliver. Our approach enables us to help our clients confront and overcome truly future-defining challenges. We partner with you to make the right decisions and take the right actions. Charles Manelski spent 22 years on the Wilmington, Delaware police force, where he remains closely involved as a trustee, President of Wilmington Association of Retired Police Association, and Executive Vice President of Crime Stoppers Delaware. In between supporting these groups and spending time with his 10 grandchildren, he serves as an integral part of security at AlixPartners. “The transition to corporate was different in terms of scale, but many of my skills and experience from policing applied. There is structure, a range of people dynamics, and a shared mission at hand. Finding connection through the firm’s Military and Uniformed Services Team (MUST) was an added bonus.” Charles adds that his longtime involvement with the police academy has him thinking about the future of public safety. “When we consider uniformed services and what it means to serve today, a goal of mine is to encourage the next generation to get involved. It’s an opportunity to have a career where you can serve as a good example to society about the importance of treating others the way you’d wish to be treated.” #uniformedservices #firstrespondersday #lifeatalixpartners

“Former ninja turtle.”   Managing Director Hoyoung Pak’s past life as a martial artist and stunt double has long been a curious footnote to his career as a leader in AI, but there is more synergy than you might think.   Hoyoung was completing post-doctoral research in New Mexico when he was scouted to play Donatello’s stunt double in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze. Before he could say yes, he had to ask his thesis advisor for a month off “to do something called the Ninja Turtles.” He wore the purple bandanna.   The skills Hoyoung had honed as a wushu fighter were the same ones he would later put into action as an executive (he completed an MBA at Kellogg School of Business) and Global Co-Leader of AlixPartners AI & Data Practice Group.   In a fight, you can get knocked out by a punch or kick if you're focused on the hand or foot, because they move too fast to react to, he explains, but through repetition, you start to learn. "What you start to see is patterns like the movement of shoulders or hips that help you rapidly predict if it's going to be a roundhouse kick or reverse punch, so you know how to counterattack," says Hoyoung.   Companies similarly aim to build early detection systems, using AI to track and respond to patterns and signals in key business metrics, whether it's customer churn, supply chain dynamics, or seasonal demand.   Whether the problem is a mutant villain or a disrupted industry, he knows how to think through the challenge and string together a series of moves to achieve success. Last week, Chief Executive Group honored AMD’s Lisa Su as the 2024 CEO of the Year at an inspiring event held in the heart of New York City at Nasdaq MarketSite. Nominated by her peers and fellow leaders, Lisa was recognized for her remarkable vision and transformative impact on the tech industry. During the ceremony, last year's honoree, Ed Bastian of Delta Air Lines , and our Co-Head of the Americas and Asia, Andy Eversbusch, paid tribute to Lisa’s accomplishments. AlixPartners CEO Simon Freakley shared valuable insights in the CEO Roundtable discussion on leadership and resilience. Later in the evening, AlixPartners’ Ted Bililies, advisor to the 2024 selection committee, co-moderated an engaging discussion with Chief Executive’s Dan Bigman, talking with 2023 CEO of the Year, Ed Bastian, and Lisa Su about their perspectives on leadership and the role of CEO. At AlixPartners, we believe in recognizing the power of great leadership to inspire, create impact, and drive meaningful change—and we are proud to sponsor this event.
