Lisa Linnen, Director of Programs at All Stars Project Dallas, shares some amazing ways to practice giving. “I believe all members of a group, team or community can contribute something" Giving isn't just about money; it’s about sharing time, kindness, and being present. Here are four ideas to try this week: Actively Listen – When friends share, be present. Include Others – Invite someone who might feel left out. Surprise a Family Member – Do something thoughtful, like making breakfast or helping with chores. Express Appreciation – Tell someone close what you appreciate about them. Try one or all, and reflect on your experience. Share your stories with us on the Padlet – the ups, the downs, and everything in between! https://lnkd.in/eD67kCKV #AllStarsProject #GivingBack #BuildingCommunity #PracticeGiving #ActiveListening #Appreciation #AfterschoolDevelopmentWorks

We transform the lives of youth and poor communities using the developmental power of performance.
About us
The All Stars Project is changing the national dialogue about how to meaningfully impact the lives of people growing up and living in poverty, and the role that "outside-of-school" plays in preparing inner-city youth for success in their lives. At All Stars, inner-city youth participate in hip-hop talent shows, leadership training in partnership with the business community, an internationally award-winning police-community relations program, and more. We have transformed our unique, community-based and grassroots programs, founded in NYC in 1981, into a growing movement reaching 20,000 inner-city youth and families each year in 6 cities. We have become one of the country's leading Afterschool Development organizations, creating a new national model that uses performance as our approach to helping kids and their families grow on and off the stage, and bridge-building through volunteer and direct partnership initiatives between our generous supporters, their families, and the youth of All Stars. The All Stars Project was proud to participate in the Dallas Police Department's Faith & Blue Unity Within the Community Walk on October 12. As part of National Faith & Blue Week, this event brought together faith leaders, police officers, and community members to build bridges and promote understanding. For over 11 years, the All Stars Project of Dallas has partnered with the Dallas Police Department, working to foster stronger police-community relations, especially within Black and Brown communities. Through events like these, we continue to lead the way in creating an environment of mutual respect and solidarity. Thank you to the Dallas Police Department's Office of Community Affairs for this powerful opportunity to walk together, speak openly, and promote a safer Dallas. Let's keep building bridges and creating community! 🙌 #AllStarsProject #PoliceCommunityRelations #BridgeBuilders #Dallas #CommunityWalk Rev. Just back from NYC with Erin Offord representing Big Thought at All Stars Project, Inc. CEO Roundtable. Hosted at Paramount headquarters, Chris Street and the team facilitated some phenomenal conversations that shined a light on the partnerships that are going to make waves across this country showing just how important out of school partners are in shaping the future workforce. Got a chance to highlight our book, Built for More ( https://lnkd.in/gM6yjqgm ). It has been a gift sharing some of my last responsibilities with Erin out here. Shout out to Benaye Wadkins Chambers, Chad Houser, and Antoine Joyce-Roach holding it down from the Dallas family.

🚀 We are thrilled to announce the launch of the All Stars Project of Chicago’s new STEAM Leadership & Performance Program (SLP) this fall! 🎉 This 9-week program empowers Chicago youth to explore dynamic careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) through immersive, hands-on experiences. Students will engage in leadership and career workshops led by professionals, cultural activities that open their worldview of diversity, and a culminating showcase event. Rooted in the All Stars Philosophy of performance and creative expression, this program inspires personal growth and leadership development. On October 8th, we kicked things off with our “Human Library” Orientation, where caring adults served as "human books," sharing their career journeys, challenges, and personal insights with our student "readers." This unique event opened minds and possibilities, setting the stage for an inspiring season ahead. 🌟 #STEAMLeadership #YouthDevelopment #ChicagoYouth #Leadership #AllStarsProject #DiversityInSTEAM #STEAMCareers #HumanLibrary
