Help us celebrate by learning about just a few Hispanic voting rights heroes👇 Dolores Huerta -Founded the Agricultural Workers Association and led voter registration drives, specifically helping Hispanic Americans -Spent her later career on women’s rights, especially encouraging Hispanic women to run for office -2012 recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom Willie Velásquez -American social activist and vote organizer -Founded the Southwest Voter Registration Education Project, which worked to expand Latino/Hispanic American voter participation -His group popularized “Su Voto Es Su Voz” (“Your Vote is Your Voice”) Jovita Idár -Organized the First Mexican Congress with her family in 1911, which advocated for education and economic resources for Mexican Americans -Got involved with women’s suffrage and wrote about it in her family newspaper -Founded La Liga Feminil Mexicaista (the League of Mexican Women) Dr. Héctor P. García -Motivated by the discrimination against Mexican Americans -Organized the American G.I. Forum in 1948, whose later work focused on poll taxation and voter registration -Today, the Forum has ~160,000 members and 502 chapters across 24 states

Certifying elections is the mandatory democratic duty of election officials – they don’t get to override the will of the people by refusing to do so.
