Allen Insurance and Financial reposted this
SVP for Business Development & Commercial Lines Producer at Allen Insurance & Financial. Insurance Columnist, WorkBoat magazine
Allen Insurance and Financial on the road news: I'm part of two panels at the Arctic Circle Assembly here in Reykjavik, speaking on two topics close to my (nerd) heart- insurance and risk. For fellow ACA attendees my 1st panel is at 8:30am tomorrow at the Edition Hotel next to Harpa: "Using Insurance to Derisk Arctic Business Development." I'll be part of this august crew convened by Leslie Canavera of PolArctic LLC talking about how to derisk business and community development in some of the wildest and most environmentally sensitive areas in the world. And for the unenlightened who don't find insurance interesting, I can promise talk of shipwrecks, polar bears, and inspiring efforts to avert environmental disaster and mass casualty incidents amid the sea ice. I did include the chocolate covered licorice as a bribe for attendees, but let's be honest: I will have eaten that well before 8:30am tomorrow.

We’re grateful for this opportunity to work with the Maine Development Foundation. Thanks to Janet Sydnor and the MDF team - and to all who added their voices to the discussion!
A huge thank you to Allen Insurance and Financial for hosting such a vital and timely discussion on how climate disasters are impacting our local businesses and communities, especially in the wake of the catastrophic Kennebec River flooding. The conversation was led by directors from Maine Development Foundation's Maine Downtown Center and SEAMaine - Maine Seafood Economic Accelerator programs, who guided our panelists through their raw reactions to the flood, the urgent steps they took to protect people, products, and property, and the journey toward recovery. We are incredibly grateful to Jeremy Ashlock, Sadia and Lauren Crosby of OystHERS Raw Bar +Bubbly, Keith Luke, and Misty Parker for bravely sharing their stories and lessons learned during such a challenging time. Your resilience and insights are truly inspiring. #CommunityStrength #ClimateResilience #MaineBusiness #FloodRecovery

October is national #EmployeeOwnershipMonth! Find out what the fuss is all about - ask a member of Team Allen what it means to be an owner! We’ll let Dan kick things off …

Its National ESOP month, and as a proud co-owner of an employee stock ownership plan company I always get fired up by the ways the Allen Insurance and Financial ESOP Culture Committee find to bring home the message about the value of employee ownership. This year they are giving us the equivalent of a High School spirit week (spread over a month) with weekly themes and events. We kicked off the month yesterday with Logo Day, and the crew at our semi-annual production team meeting really came through, as you can see!

What better way to start #EmployeeOwnershipMonth than with the Maine ESOPs Fall Conference, held Monday, Oct. 1 in Auburn. EOM celebrates and recognizes the benefits of employee ownership for employees, companies and communities - there’s always more to learn and to celebrate and we're planning fun and educational activities all through the month! Pictured here are, from left, Caitlin Harrington, Cameron Gartley, Patrick Chamberlin, James Sanborn and Debbie Tyler who represented their Allen co-owners at the conference, along with Lee Cabana, who is not pictured.
