Where Teachers Succeed & Scholars Achieve

About us

Alliance College-Ready Public Schools was founded in 2004 on the belief that all children – regardless of ZIP code, income, ability, or background – are capable of achieving at high levels. Alliance is one of the largest and most successful nonprofit public charter school networks in the nation, operating 26 high-performing, tuition-free middle and high schools in Los Angeles' vibrant Black and Latine communities. Alliance has a proven record of success for our over 12,500 scholars and 20,000 alumni, 97% of whom are scholars of color. Our schools have been recognized among the best in the state and nation by the U.S. Department of Education, the California Department of Education, U.S. News & World Report, Stanford CREDO, and the University of Southern California (USC) Rossier School of Education.

  • When historic wildfires tore through Los Angeles earlier this year, Alliance Susan & Eric Smidt Technology High School teacher and author Veronica Bane noticed a gap that needed filling—the loss of classroom libraries. So, she launched a book drive. What started as a single post quickly turned into a global act of generosity, with more than 14,000 books donated from across the world to help students and teachers begin to rebuild. Backed by the writing community, civic leaders like Congressman Jimmy Gomez, and her own deep belief in the power of reading, Veronica is restoring more than books—she’s restoring a sense of stability and hope. • During Black History Month, we had the honor of celebrating at Alliance Ouchi High School, where The Divas of Compton delivered an amazing performance at the Black History Month Assembly. Their powerful tribute to culture, resilience, and Black excellence was a highlight of the event. Alongside inspiring student performances and impactful speeches, this gathering was a true testament to the strength and unity of our community. It was a moment to reflect on the contributions of Black leaders, pioneers, and changemakers—while recognizing that the work toward equity and progress continues. A special thanks to No Place For Hate and Ouchi’s Black Student Union for their dedication to making this event possible. Let’s carry this momentum forward beyond Black History Month and continue uplifting voices, sharing stories, and driving change. #BlackHistoryMonth

  • Women’s History Month is a time to reflect on the groundbreaking contributions of women of color in education, leadership, and community building. These women have not only fought for equity and opportunity but have also created spaces where future generations can thrive. Their work reminds us that knowledge is power, and when we uplift others, we create ripples of change that extend far beyond the present moment. As we honor their legacies, let’s also challenge ourselves to continue their work—whether through mentorship, advocacy, or simply ensuring that every voice is valued and heard. Progress is built on the foundation of those who came before us, and together, we can build an even brighter future.

  • Today, we celebrate #SELday! Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is more than just a classroom initiative—it’s a foundation for lifelong success. When students develop emotional intelligence, resilience, and strong interpersonal skills, they’re not only better equipped to navigate challenges in school but also in their future careers and personal lives. By prioritizing SEL, we are shaping the next generation of leaders, problem-solvers, and empathetic communicators. Investing in students' emotional well-being today means building a workforce and society that thrives on collaboration, innovation, and emotional intelligence. Let’s continue fostering environments where students can grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

  • Alliance Kory Hunter Middle School is empowering students through podcasting with Podcademy 4 Kids. Thanks to ELO-P funding, this program launched in Summer 2024 to provide scholars with a space to refine their ELA skills, build confidence, and explore a future in broadcasting. Sixth graders are gaining hands-on experience with professional equipment, conducting interviews, and creating meaningful content. With a growing waitlist each semester, it’s clear that students are eager to engage in this innovative learning opportunity. If your school is interested in launching a podcasting program, Podcademy 4 Kids is a fantastic partner. Let’s give more students a voice. #charterschool
