I’m pleased to share a new tech blog about our journey to bring AV1 HDR10+ to Netflix. This achievement was the result of dedicated collaboration across multiple teams, including Encoding Technologies, Client and Partner Engineering, and Content Operations and Innovation. Together, we worked diligently to prototype, evaluate, implement, A/B test, troubleshoot, refine, and ultimately stream content in AV1 HDR10+ to our members. It’s truly rewarding to enhance the viewing experience by delivering more dynamic range, detail, and vivid colors to a wider range of devices. Congratulations to the entire team for their hard work and innovation! Netflix launched HDR10+ streaming, utilizing #AV1 as its backbone codec for encoding. This upgrade enhances "the viewing experience for certified HDR10+ devices, which previously only received HDR10 content." According to the Netflix blog, "the dynamic metadata included in our HDR10+ content improves the quality and accuracy of the picture when viewed on these devices."
