They say it’s never too late to share summer memories, so here we go! One of the biggest highlights of my summer was attending the ALPFA Convention in Las Vegas, my first ever ALPFA Inc - Association of Latino Professionals For America event. The convention was packed with high-energy sessions, insightful workshops, and endless opportunities to network with chapter leaders and industry professionals from all over the country. I had the privilege of learning from experienced professionals and made connections that will no doubt be valuable for both my personal and professional growth. A big thank you to ALPFA - East Carolina University for inviting me to this amazing convention! Even as a freshman, I managed to network with numerous potential employers, setting the stage for my future career. To any freshmen or sophomores reading this: I highly recommend putting yourself out there! You never know what opportunities you might discover. Take that step—it’ll be worth it. And as for Vegas…they say the house always wins, and trust me, I tested that theory. I went in with money and left with memories—and a suspiciously light wallet! Turns out, when you're having fun, both time and money disappear faster than a magician’s rabbit. But hey, what’s Vegas without a little financial "magic"?

🗣️ Attn: East Carolina University and Harriot College Friends❗ #DYK? Sariah Alexandra Ortiz, an undergraduate major in Biology, recently participated in an event at Wayne Community College called "Let’s Connect Wayne County." This outreach program was designed to educate Hispanic students about the various higher education opportunities available to them. The event aimed to promote diversity within the student body and highlighted the numerous resources and programs that ECU offers. "It was a meaningful experience to connect with these students, share valuable information and encourage them to pursue their educational goals as young Hispanic woman," said Ortiz. "Being Hispanic, or Latinx, means being connected to a rich culture full of traditions, language and values that have been passed down through my family. It’s about taking pride in where I come from and the history of my ancestors. I feel like I’m part of something bigger; a community that shares similar experiences and values." This past weekend, 13 ALPFA ECU students attended the ALPFA Southeast Regional Student Symposium hosted at the University of Miami. Students participated in insightful workshops and networked with recruiters at the career fair. It was an amazing event hosted by ALPFA Miami - Professional Chapter. Special thanks to Damian Rivera for the incredible support he has provided to the chapter!
