Today we remember the brave souls who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. To commemorate Memorial Day 2024, the Society of the First Infantry Division, the veteran's organization of the U.S. Army's First Division, held a Dedication Ceremony for a recently completed First Division Memorial expansion within President’s Park located on the White House Grounds.   The First Division Memorial was originally dedicated in 1924 to honor the souls lost in World War I. In 1957, the Memorial expanded west to honor those who served in World War II. Further expansion included an addition in 1977 for the Vietnam War addition, and for Desert Storm in 1995.   Alpha proudly served as Construction Manager from Fall 2023 through Spring 2024, to expand the Memorial again, with the addition of granite plinths with bronze name plates to honor 631 names lost in Operation Iraqi Freedom New Dawn, Operation Enduring Freedom Afghanistan, and Desert Storm, with landscaping improvements surrounding the additions.   Alpha worked closely with the White House Operations, U.S. Secret Service, National Park Service as well as the incredible design team, HOK, and General Contracting team, Terra Constructs, to successfully complete this uniquely challenging project within budget and on schedule for the Memorial Day 2024 Dedication.   Alpha expresses our deepest gratitude to those who served and sacrificed for our nation. Their courage and selflessness will never be forgotten-in this memorial they will be forever remembered and honored.

Alpha remembers the six men and women, fellow construction workers and inspectors, who lost their lives when a speeding vehicle entered the work area behind the jersey barrier one year ago today on the Maryland I-695 project north of Baltimore, MD. Let this tragic event remind us of our role in ensuring our own safety and that of our co-workers and communities.   Please join us for a moment of silence held in honor of the one-year anniversary of the I-695 accident at 12:40pm on March 22nd.
