Their commitment to meet regularly, address challenges, and achieve a high level of #coordination has led to a significant milestone: the approval of all seven Groundwater Sustainability Plans (GSPs) by the California Department of Water Resources. This approval marks a major advancement in achieving #groundwater #sustainability. 🔗 Learn more about the Kings Subbasin’s highly coordinated efforts: https://lnkd.in/er2bEMsv 🎥 Watch the video below to hear from Ronnie Samuelian, the Subbasin’s point of contact, on the importance of collaboration. ⬇ #CAwater

On August 1, General Manager Chad Wegley, along with Fresno Irrigation District’s Bill Stretch and Consolidated Irrigation District’s Phil Desatoff, hosted a tour of a groundwater recharge basin for USDA Deputy Secretary Xochitl Torres Small and Congressman Jim Costa. The tour highlighted the importance of investing in #groundwater #recharge basins to enhance water security and prepare for future droughts, showcasing local basins in action. 💦🌱 Chad was interviewed by CBS47 and KSEE24 and ABC30, who covered the tour, and discussed the $3M awarded by Congressman Costa’s Community Project Funding Requests for the Upper Kings River Community Water and Climate Resiliency Project. The project is a collaborative groundwater recharge-focused effort between Alta, Fresno & Consolidated irrigation districts. Alta is using its share of the funds for a new 41-acre recharge basin, the Traver North Groundwater Recharge Basin, set to begin construction in summer 2025. June 20, 2024 Dinuba – On Friday, June 21st, Alta Irrigation District starts a new entitlement schedule. Over the course of a water run, the District adjusts the entitlement schedule to match the available supply. According to information from the Kings River Water Association (“KRWA”) and the California Department of Water Resources (“DWR”), Kings River runoff is anticipated to be in a “normal” range for this water year (October 1st to September 30th). Keeping with typical operations during a “normal” runoff condition, water allotments will be available to land with an entitlement category greater than or equal to 25%. Land with a 5% entitlement classification (aka “Groundwater Only”) will not receive an allotment for the remainder of this year’s water run. Below is the allotment schedule for the new 14-day irrigation cycle. https://lnkd.in/gTzN2XtA
