This prestigious event was sponsored by the United States Department of Defense (DOD), Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E)), and Indiana National Guard. We provided an ST-Flex aerostat and demonstrated autonomous features and benefits such as launch, recovery, and active flight controls while showcasing a multifunctional payload including IMSAR’s NSP-7 Aerostat Radar, Silvus Technologies’ Streamcaster SC4400E 4×4 MIMO radio, and Trillium Engineering’s HD80 EO/IR sensor. New video: Scott Cheek, one of our Senior Field Service Representatives, sat down with us to discuss the deployment and operations of our latest autonomous aerostat, ST-Flex Guardian Class. Scott has over 3 years of experience operating traditional aerostats in the US and overseas and brings a unique perspective on autonomy and its benefits. The ST-Flex Guardian class is easily transportable via land, air, or sea, and can be rapidly deployed in less than a day.

On the final day of T-REX 24-2, we are still going strong! As we reflect on our time so far, one of the highlights of the exercise was demonstrating our autonomous aerostat technology and multifunctional payload to Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering Heidi Shyu (OUSD(R&E)) who had the opportunity to launch the aerostat remotely from a laptop on site.  We have seen many incredible technologies demonstrated at this event but we were most impressed with how IMSAR’s NSP-7 Aerostat Radar and Silvus Technologies’ Streamcaster 4400E 4×4 MIMO radios have performed onboard the ST-Flex! As we culminate the Technology Readiness Experimentation T-REX 24-2 in Camp Atterbury, Indiana, IMSAR would like to recognize the Indiana National Guard, as well as the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering, for both their professionalism and dedication to bring technologies to the war fighters. Altaeros’ ST-Flex is deployed and operational at Camp Atterbury, Indiana (CAIN) for T-REX 24-2! Over the next 8 days, we will be demonstrating our autonomous control system Aerostat Autopilot, as well as showcasing a multifunctional payload featuring technologies from IMSAR and Silvus Technologies.
