ADISA is growing its partnership with the Milken Institute’s HBCU Strategic Initiative and Fellows Program and has welcomed HBCU students to our Spring and Annual Conferences. ADISA strives to introduce the alts industry to a new generation of young leaders. To make this happen, ADISA member companies have been providing funding for the students’ travel and lodging. We are seeking sponsors to partner with ADISA and the Milken Institute’s HBCU program to help with the ongoing funding of the students’ attendance at our conferences. To make a donation, log in to the portal: https://lnkd.in/gYFzRZ8N. To read about the students who attended the 2024 Spring Conference, go here: https://lnkd.in/gr69C9aG.

Does Starwood’s redemption cap spell failure for NAV REITs? Not according to John Grady, co-chair of the Alternative & Direct Investment Securities Association’s Legislative and Regulatory Committee. In May, Barry Sternlicht capped investors’ ability to exit his $10 billion real estate fund, unsettling investors and drawing media criticism as a failure to provide promised liquidity. However, Grady says criticism of redemption caps stems from a misunderstanding of the nature of non-traded REITs (NTRs). Check out Grady's interview with Urban Land Institute on how NTRs were designed to give investors stable, long-term returns and allow issuers the ability to wait out the market and sell assets at peak prices. #invest #liquidity #redemptions

ADISA reposted this
ADISA is proud to continue our partnership with the Milken Institute's HBCU Strategic Initiative and Fellows Program and welcomed students from HBCUs at this year’s Spring Conference. This augments ADISA’s current student outreach program with Utah Valley University, and through both partnerships, ADISA strives to introduce the alts industry to a new generation of young leaders. The Milken Institute recently celebrated the latest class of its Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Fellowship program at its 2024 Global Conference in Los Angeles. The fellowship program, now in its second year, empowers students from HBCUs by providing opportunities for professional development, networking and personal growth in the financial services sector. ADISA was pleased to be an in-kind partner and our own Tanisha Bibbs, CRCP, CMP, CEM, ADISA’s Director of Business Development & Events, attended the event. #alternativeinvestments #HBCUs #financialservices
