☠️ "I'm often asked why I begin my assessment with the pelvis and sacrum" - explains Performance Therapist, Gordon Bosworth. 🕵️♂️ "Well simply put – I start at the pelvis because it acts as the central fulcrum for three important levers that are key to human movement: the trunk and the two legs. 📐 As a therapist with over 40 years of experience specializing in the pelvis and sacrum, I've come to appreciate the profound role these structures play in our bodies. The pelvis, comprising the ilium, ischium, and pubis bones, serves as the support system for our spine, transferring weight to the lower limbs. The sacrum, a triangular bone at the base of the spine, connects to the pelvis through the sacroiliac joints. 💪 Together, they maintain balance, stability, and mobility, and are key to effective movement, regardless of the task, event, or sport." 📹 LEARN MORE: Get your free video and guide! Every coach and sports performance professional will at some point be faced with what can be a daunting question: 🎽 “Is this athlete ready to return to play?” As much as it may seem logical to say that injury rehabilitation can be predicted on a time-based replicable timeline, the reality is that this is simply not true. Why? Well, as Coach Pfaff explained: 💪 “When exposed to the same type and amount of load, some individuals will adapt favorably, others will adapt negatively, while others still will have very little reaction at all.” For example, many well meaning therapists assert that if an athlete’s soft tissue response to treatment is favorable, they are likely ready to return to play. In our experience, this isn’t necessarily the case... --- Learn more - grab our FREE ebook - Screening Movement, Predicting Injury, and Returning to Performance. 📘 https://loom.ly/21GzpKg

Pedal Placement 📏 🤝 In our experience — most coaches are pretty similar here — starting with about 2 feet to the front pedal and 3 feet to the rear pedal. 🎓 That said — recent research has shown that a closer set-up to the line leads to better 5m and 10m times, due primarily to higher rear block impulse — so this may be something to experiment with slightly with your athletes.* 🚫 We often see athletes take tape measures to the start — but from our experience, this really isn't necessary for most sprinters. 👣 We just have the athletes step out from the line — and this is where we start the season with almost everyone: 2 steps and 3 steps 🔎 We might adjust a notch or two backward or forward as the season progresses, or based on obvious individual variance — but for most of the athletes, this is where they are for most of the time. Learn more - with The ALTIS Pocket Guide Course - From Gun to Tape - your go-to resource for running a fast 100m. 📲 https://loom.ly/74LzFHs --- Reference: *Slawinski, J., Dumas, R., Cheze, L., Ontanon, G., Miller, C., & Mazure-Bonnefoy, A.
