Join Body Positive Works and Alumni in Recovery for a meditation group designed to support those on their 12 Step journey meant to help you find serenity in Recovery. Taking place every 2nd Tuesday of the month from 6:30-7:30pm, including tomorrow, this guided meditation will feature a combination of mindfulness techniques with the wisdom of the 12 Steps. No prior meditation experience is required and all are welcome! Focus will be put on helping those in attendance form self-awareness and acceptance, manage cravings and triggers with mindfulness, use the present moment to find strength and serenity, and connect with a community of support. The workshop will be led by experienced meditation guide Mark Van Buren, who has fifteen years in the field. There is a suggested donation of $20. We hope to see you there!

About us
Alumni in Recovery is a non-profit organization composed of dedicated young adults who are now living in recovery and abstinent from all drugs and alcohol. We provide a safe and reliable program to heighten awareness, hope, and resources for our local communities. We aim to end the stigma of the disease of addiction by sharing our stories with middle and high school students, parents and communities. We are a service-based volunteer program. Originating in Bergen County, NJ and rapidly expanding throughout the Northeast, we offer awareness services to schools and communities. Our recovery members are abstinent from all mind-altering drugs, including alcohol. They are responsible, local young adults living in the community, rebuilding their lives and actively living a life of recovery. Our parent program helps change perceptions. Our town and school based events for parents/adults is intended to help them navigate the addiction landscape. These events typically consist of two Recovery Members and a bereaved parent sharing their personal stories of loss. These events bring together real life voices to change the perception of substance abuse and addiction. Our participants speak from their hearts. As an act of love and care, our volunteers do not expect anything other than the gratitude that comes from helping others. It is their hope that Alumni in Recovery helps others better understand this deadly disease — all with the desire to help save lives.

Monday, September 9th was Valley Spring Recovery Center's Dan Mulroy Invitational, a day of #food, #fun, #golf, and supporting #recovery. Some of the proceeds they made from the event are being donated to us! As a result, we would love to give a huge thank you to Valley Spring Recovery Center and want to congratulate them on hosting such a successful outing!

Alumni in Recovery is having its annual RECOVERY DAY event at Tallman Pool Club, Sparkill, NY on September 7th, 2024 from 11am-5pm. This event held to celebrate recovery will be $20 at the gate for attendees and will have live music, food, the return of "Wellness Way" with healers and psychic mediums, as well as addiction and wellness resources! As a vendor, exhibitor, or resource, registering for a table will allow you to be a part of this day of fun and celebration! It will be an awesome opportunity to highlight some of the imperative services that you offer to the general public while bringing attention to an important cause. We are a 5o1(c)(3) nonprofit that holds, and participates in, events like Recovery Day, which are focused on healing our community, but they can only happen because of the donations of generous sponsors.
