Ilia Riviera began volunteering with the Alzheimer’s Association after her mother was diagnosed with vascular dementia. As a community educator, she uses her first-hand experience to help families impacted by dementia get the resources and information they need. Ilia also raises funds and awareness to #ENDALZ by rallying her community to take action as a Walk to End Alzheimer’s committee member. Join Ilia in making a difference by volunteering with the Alzheimer’s Association: alz.org/volunteer. #HispanicHeritageMonth

Alzheimer’s ambassador and health services professional Hector Montesino has lost many family members to Alzheimer’s, including his beloved grandmother who was “vibrant, loving and a fantastic cook.” Many of Hector’s family members immigrated from the Dominican Republic where they had limited access to education, making navigating diagnosis and care a challenge. Hector hopes more Latinx community members join him in becoming a volunteer to increase representation in Alzheimer’s and dementia research and care and support outreach. Hector says he has “seen the disease ravage families and knows how much support is needed.” We are so grateful to Hector and all those taking action to strengthen the health of their communities and to fight Alzheimer’s and all other dementia. Take Hector’s lead and volunteer with the Alzheimer’s Association: alz.org/volunteer. #HispanicHeritageMonth #ENDALZ

Dr. Adrianna Nava is a registered nurse and immediate past president of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN), the nation’s leading professional society for Latino nurses. Through her experience in these roles, she has seen the impact of Alzheimer’s and dementia on both patients and their entire support system. Dr. Nava understands the unique challenges Hispanic Americans face in accessing information on Alzheimer’s, getting connected with care and support resources and playing an active role in dementia research. Hispanics are 1.5 times more likely than Whites to have dementia, which is why Dr. Nava feels it is integral that NAHN and the Alzheimer’s Association work together towards closing this health equity gap. The Alzheimer’s Association partners with NAHN on community outreach and education initiatives that help increase awareness of Alzheimer’s and other dementias in the Hispanic community, provide care and support resources and encourage participation in research studies. Join us in thanking Dr. Nava and the members of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses for their commitment to the fight to #ENDALZ, and learn more about our DEI national partnerships at bit.ly/4cZvHC4. 💜 #HispanicHeritageMonth

Edward Jones is truly invested in a future without Alzheimer’s. Since 2016, as a Diamond National Team for Walk to End Alzheimer’s, they have raised over $25 million through more than 25,000 Walk teams and 119,000 participants for the fight to #ENDALZ — and those numbers continue to climb! That brings their total contribution to the Alzheimer’s Association since 2016 to over $49 million toward a pledged goal of $50 million by 2025. Talk about strength in numbers 💪. Thank you, Edward Jones! #Walk2EndALZ
