New from MAAP! ❗🛰️ Over the past few months, MAAP has released a series of reports on estimates for aboveground carbon, highlighting the highest (peak) levels in various parts of the Amazon. 🌳 Now, our newest report, MAAP #220, is part 3 of this series, analyzing aboveground carbon loss and gain across the Amazon over the past 10 years. Thanks to a combination of new datasets throughout this series, our ability to estimate the Amazon's carbon loss and gain creates a better understanding of how it functions as a carbon sink (absorbing more carbon from the air than it releases, which is crucial in mitigating climate change). #ClimateAction #climatechange #forest #environment https://lnkd.in/eYGWi_nM

New from MAAP! 🛰️ MAAP #221 provides a concise analysis of 4 protected areas in the Ecuadorian Amazon that are currently threatened by harmful mining activities. 🌳As previous reports have shown an escalation in mining activities in the Ecuadorian Amazon, our MAAP team continues to closely monitor the situation in an effort to provide accessible data that may be used to support legal action against illegal gold mining and other harmful deforestation activities.
