I want to highlight our recently completed 105 unit project in the city of Los Angeles, La Prensa Apartments. Our Sr. superintendent made such a lasting impression with the Frida Kahlo High School next door, they invited him to deliver a speech for their graduation class. Great job Dan Balistreri!

Farmworkers are essential to our agricultural industry, yet their housing often falls short. Many farmers live in crowded, substandard conditions due to the difficulty of finding affordable housing. We are proud to be working with AMCAL Multi-Housing, Inc., who is stepping up to address this issue with a new development, Somis Ranch Apartments! AMCAL focuses on developing affordable market-rate housing and is dedicated to bringing luxury apartments to the workforce. The new Somis Apartment development spans 19 acres and features 28 two- to three-story walk-up style multi-family buildings, along with 2 two-story community centers, all completed in two phases. Amenities aim to enhance the quality of life for residents by including a community building, picnic area, playground, basketball court, laundry rooms, computer room, business center, courtesy patrol, after-school programs, adult education classes, and surveillance cameras. The Geocon Team contributed by preparing the geotechnical design reports and performed all geotechnical and special inspection and testing services during construction. Thanks to AMCAL's vision of Somis Apartments, we can begin to celebrate a community where every farmer has a safe and comfortable place to call home.

Happy to report that we just completed a successful installation for the La Prensa Libre Apartments, a 4-story development on Washington Boulevard at Los Angeles Street. Our client, AMCAL Multi-Housing, Inc., partnered with the Coalition for Responsible Community Development (CRCD) to build 105 affordable residences, including 25 units set aside for transition age youth. CRCD — a local community-based nonprofit — will provide intensive case management services and operate a workforce development center and café on the ground floor that will be open to the public and serve the local community.
