As the #FDA begins to deemphasize the #interchangeability designation, with an eye towards making any approved #biosimilar interchangeable with the reference product, an expert panel at this week’s #GRxBiosims 2024 conference tackled the prevailing issue: Does interchangeability matter today? To date, an interchangeability designation has not been utilized widely in any drug category to achieve its intended purpose—enable a quick conversion from the reference drug to the interchangeable biosimilar. Sam Leo Heather Pace Adam Colborn Michelle Cope https://wp.me/p7gt6c-7Pd

🌟 AMCP Nexus 2024 Recap 🌟 Two weeks ago, I had an incredible experience at Nexus. I was able to showcase my research and present a poster for the first time. I was also fortunate to have two entries considered for the best poster competition: "Optimizing Hemophilia A Patient Management: A Descriptive Analysis of Patient Demographics, Sites of Care, Treatment Strategies, and Social Determinants of Health" and "A cost-benefit analysis of a social determinants of health program within a clinical integrated network of community pharmacies". The research on Hemophilia A was made possible through the generous support of AMCP Foundation and Sanofi through the AMCP Foundation Internship. I am profoundly grateful for their backing and support. Thank you, AMCP Foundation, Ebony S. Clay, PMP, Julia Rossi, PharmD, RPh, MBA, Michael Raffaele M.D., and Debra Vickers for making this opportunity a reality! I'm excited to announce "A Cost-benefit Analysis of a social determinants of health program within a clinical integrated network of community pharmacies" won the competition! A huge shout out to Shelby Chan, Francesco Luppino, Durdana Iqbal, PharmD, and En-ling Chen for being such fantastic co-authors and to Christopher Daly and David Jacobs, PharmD, PhD for allowing us to contribute to such innovative research. An extra shout-out to Shelby for presenting the poster at Nexus! Additionally, I had the honor of moderating the session "A Beginner's Guide to Decoding Cell and Gene Therapy (CGT)” where we explored the future of CGT in managed care pharmacy. It was an incredibly informative session that introduced me to the challenges and solutions within the CGT space. Reconnecting with old friends - my peers on the Student Pharmacist Committee, my fellow Foundation Interns, and my Northeast AMCP peers just to name a few - and making new connections is always one of the highlights of conference attendance! While this Nexus was incredibly impactful, it was also bittersweet as it’s the last Nexus I’ll attend as a student. Attending this year’s residency showcase was inspiring and I’m even more excited about my future career! If you attended Nexus or have thoughts on CGT, hemophilia management, SDOH programs, or residency opportunities, I’d love to hear from you. Let’s keep the conversation going! #AMCPNexus #ManagedCarePharmacy #CGT #Hemophilia #SDOH #HealthcareInnovation #Networking #AMCPFdn #MCPLife #WeAreMCPs #studentpharmacist #studentleadership #networking #AMCP #NortheastAMCP

Happy American Pharmacists Month! I always say public health is a team sport – and pharmacists, often a first point of care, are a crucial part of that team. Thank you, pharmacists, for all that you do to keep your communities healthy!

During #AMCPNexus 2024 Charlles Dragovich, Senior Director and Client Strategist at Cencora, sat down with Managed Healthcare Executive to discuss the way regulations usually work and how the road to the Preapproval Information Exchange Act (PIE) was different! PIE was AMCP’s top legislative priority for many years and its passing represented the culmination of an advocacy process that was years in the making. Being able to share critical information with health plans and payers has expedited treatment delivery for millions of patients and AMCP is proud to have been a leading voice in the monumental effort! See the full interview below to hear more about PIE and its impact on patient outcomes! https://bit.ly/4fikoXi
