Construction Inclusion Week Day 5! Community engagement efforts help shape the built environment, today and in the future. At Amenta Emma, we understand that to generate a more diverse pipeline of talent, it is essential to provide opportunities to those who may otherwise have no access to knowledge of the profession. Our JEDI+B team developed a Mentorship Program to increase awareness and support students interested in the architecture and interior design professions. Team members visit local high schools and present an overview of the profession and the design process as well as the paths to becoming an architect or interior designer. They attend career fairs and assist with portfolio reviews and preparing resumes, conduct job shadows for high school students, and host firm tours for local college and university students. Actively caring for each other ensures that everyone feels both physically and psychologically safe. Ways that we are making an impact on the Amenta Emma workplace culture and policies are by creating and administering an annual survey, sharing the results and tracking our improvements, developing a career lattice, holding quarterly JEDI+B workshops, and continuously revising our company policies to be more inclusive of diverse identities and family dynamics.
