Our home office team captured the impact of giving back last week by celebrating CoreGiving Day at the Central Texas Food Bank by sorting and packing over 4,300 lbs of food and providing over 3,600 meals. Across the nation, more than 3000 volunteers helped make a difference to fight child hunger, along with helping with relief efforts for those affected by Hurricane Milton. We reduced GHG emissions by 9.8% from 2022 to 2023 and continued leading the student housing industry with 40 LEED-certified developments. Well-organized living spaces can do wonders for students’ mental health by transforming a cramped room into a comfortable, efficient haven where every square foot matters. To optimize study and living spaces, and support students’ overall wellbeing, we partnered with The Home Edit to help turn cluttered spaces into well-put-together ones. ACC Chief Marketing Officer Kimberly (Kimmy) Kelley and The Home Edit Founders Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin talked with MultiHousing News to reveal more about this initiative and how it complements students’ ever-evolving expectations. "As students are living on their own for the first time, support around life skills is a valuable resource. This includes tips and resources to stay organized and set up your living space for success. The Campus Edit is a holistic partnership that will equip students with the resources they need to create an organized living space for greater success in college." This week, we celebrated the grand opening of our new community The Ridge at Emory University. The project has expanded Emory's on-campus Graduate Housing by 535 beds. Equipped with a community center, private and group study lounges, and state-of-the-art 24-hour fitness center, the community fosters a live-learn experience just 15 minutes away from most graduate and professional schools. “This housing initiative has amplified the importance of graduate and professional students on campus, bringing visibility to their contributions to our community and intentionally creating space for creative and interdisciplinary collisions,” said Kimberly J., dean of the James T. Laney School of Graduate Studies and vice provost for graduate affairs. “We know that it is not enough to provide a rigorous academic experience and student-centered programming that honors the whole student. We need physical space and additional programming that honors the unique needs of graduate and professional students. The Ridge does just that." Congratulations to our team for all the hardwork and success in opening the project for the Emory graduate students as they start the semester. With over 80 portfolio companies submitting their best ideas on how to leverage Artificial Intelligence to improve the future of business, our very own Sarah L. Prescott shared her vision on how to innovate within student housing and beyond. We are excited to celebrate this exciting accomplishment and we look forward to enhancing our business with this product. Sarah shares: “AI will certainly shape our future and it’s no surprise that Blackstone is leveraging the talent from within. This challenge gave me the opportunity to use my 23 years in student housing to imagine new possibilities for the industry.” #DriveEvolution #americancampus #studenthousing
At Blackstone, we are strong believers in the power of #AI and the power of community. By being a part of our 250+ company portfolio, our leaders can compare learnings and collaborate – an important advantage in tackling big opportunities like AI. That’s why earlier this year we sponsored the Blackstone AI Acceleration Challenge, which asked our companies to submit their best ideas for how AI could strengthen their business. I was thrilled to see the enthusiasm: over 350 submissions across 80+ companies. Congratulations to our winners: Cvent, American Campus Communities, Spanx, Carrix, Inc., and BME - Building Materials Europe. Your submissions highlight the breadth of impact that AI will have across industries - from a global port operator to an iconic shapewear brand - and we look forward to seeing how these solutions will accelerate your business!
