American Express launched the Small Business Hurricane Recovery grant program in collaboration with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation to support small businesses impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. We’ve committed $5 million in funding for a grant program to help 1,000 impacted small businesses recover from the hurricanes’ devastating effects and build resilience against future disasters. Today, American Express reported its third-quarter 2024 financial results, delivering strong EPS of $3.49 and its 10th consecutive quarter of record revenue, growing 8% over the prior year to $16.6 billion. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Steve Squeri said: “We had another strong quarter that reflects the earnings power of our business model and our continued investments for growth. Our continued momentum demonstrates the sustainability of our product refresh strategy and the growth it is driving in our portfolio. As a follow-up to #WorldMentalHealthDay, our Healthy Living and Healthy Minds programs teamed up to host skateboarding legend Tony Hawk at #TeamAmex yesterday for a special fireside chat with our very own Anthony Cirri, Executive Vice President of U.S. Consumer Product Management & Lending. Tony talked about the important connection between our mental and physical health, and how at the height of his career, he was at an all-time low. “I was on a winning streak, and I felt depressed. I actually quit for a while because it was just too much pressure. I had to advocate for myself, but I was all alone when I did that. It was hard. But my skating blossomed when I was just skating for fun. I had the most fun with the least success, and it helped me to recalibrate and go back to competing with a renewed approach.” We quickly learned that Tony’s secret to success was staying connected to his intention, and what brought him joy. Whether you’re an athlete, accountant, or chef, you’ll reach your highest potential when you prioritize your holistic well-being and have confidence in yourself. And from there, as Tony put it, “you just enjoy the ride.”
