Now more than ever, it is essential that all Americans recognize the importance of supporting our brothers and sisters in Israel. The IDF fights not only to protect Israel’s right to exist, but the right for jews across the world to exist in peace and security. About us
AFOSE funds educational and cultural volunteer opportunities in Israel for Americans of all faiths in conjunction with Sar El - the national volunteer project of Israel. Volunteer alumni will use their experiences to combat anti Jewish and anti Israel hate. Sar El is an organization that has been the lifeblood of support for Israel for countless years, bringing thousands of volunteers from across the world to assist the IDF. It's our mission to provide essential aid in times of need, and today, that need is greater than ever.

“Kol yisroel areivim zeh l’zeh” is a phrase you will often hear in the Jewish world. But it's more than a simple saying or slogan. It codifies the idea that everyone, regardless of faith, is responsible for maintaining, protecting, and strengthening the state of Israel. That's why AFOSE is commited to funding volunteer opportunities through Sar El. Because those experiences are not only rewarding, they are life changing - both for the volunteers and for the Israelis with whom they interact. Supporting Israel throuhg Sar El strengthens the bonds of brother and sisterhood, and brings to life the wisdom of our teaching that we are all responsible for eachother.

The transcendent purpose of the educational and cultural volunteer programs supported by AFOSE is to foster a greater connection between Americans of all faiths and the people and promise of Israel. Through your donations, AFOSE will fund initiatives supporting Israel and Sar El, including Israeli mechinot leadership academies where young Israelis and young Americans volunteer side-by-side in agriculture and logistics operations, Jewish and non-Jewish youth groups, profession-specific volunteer experiences, and other Jewish and non-Jewish volunteer opportunities. If you have a program that you would like funded, please contact us on AFOSE.org/contact

At American Friends of Sar El, our mission is simple: Combating jewish and Israel hate. We accomplish this goal by working closely with Sar El, the national volunteer project of Israel, to develop volunteer opportunities and project content. Our volunteers will become Ambassadors that can serve as the tip of the spear to combat the anti-Jewish and anti-Israel narrative that pervades the media and the academy in the areas of the United States in which they live.

Volunteerism through Sar El is truly “as real as it gets.” The experience is not only rewarding, it is life changing- both for the volunteer and for the Israelis with whom they interact. It strengthens the bonds of brother and sisterhood, and brings to life the wisdom of our teaching that “Kol yisroel areivim zeh l’zeh” - we are all responsible for each other.

AFOSE President Kevin Lipson recently shared an Independence Day Message, marking both the July 4th holiday, as well as the 9th month of Israel's defensive war in Gaza. "There has rarely been a more challenging time to be a Zionist or a Jew." He writes, "We are inundated with Jewish and Israel hate from virtually all corners of the political spectrum."
