At Open Campus, we're driven by this thought: People need local, trusted, and independent information about colleges in their own communities. This year, in addition to our journalism, we wanted to understand more about how people learn about their options after high school. With grant support from the Carnegie Corporation of New York and American Student Assistance, we hired people in Chicago and Houston to talk with their neighbors, friends, and colleagues. These local ambassadors conducted 200 conversations, reaching people who often get overlooked. Our featured speakers include Stephanie Quintana, a recent graduate from University of Illinois Chicago; Jessica Barrera, a student at The University of Texas at Austin; Juliet Stipeche, executive director of the Gulf Coast Workforce Board; and Dominique McKoy, from the To&Through Project at University of Illinois Chicago. Join us on November 12 to explore findings from our community listening in Houston and Chicago about the challenges Americans face in getting trusted, local, and independent information regarding their career and college options.
