About us

American Welding & Gas (AWG) is a manufacturer and distributor of industrial gases as well as a provider of all your welding supply needs. We are a family and teammate owned company that is headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina. Our company provides industrial, medical and specialty gases as well as food and beverage gases across the United States, from Montana to Pennsylvania and down through Texas and Florida. With a team of over 800 employees, over 100 retail locations and 22 fill plants we pride ourselves in our customer service, expertise, assets and resources that allow us to reach a large and diversified customer base of the highest quality. AWG originated from Valley Welding Supply located in Billings, Montana and Scott-Gross Company located in Lexington, Kentucky. Both companies began back in 1949 and have allowed us to grow through acquisitions as well as organically.     PRESS RELEASE  American Welding & Gas, Inc. Commissions New Georgetown, KY Plant    Lexington, Kentucky September 5, 2024. American Welding & Gas, Inc. (“AWG”) proudly announces the commissioning of our new state of the art fill plant located at 400 Triport Road, Georgetown, KY. Scott County Judge/Executive Joe Pat Covington and Georgetown Mayor Burney Jenkins presided over AWG’s ribbon cutting ceremony held at the new fill plant on August 28, 2022.     AWG’s new Georgetown, KY plant is a 20,000 square foot facility located adjacent to our existing store and warehouse location. Producing industrial and medical gases used by AWG customers in Ohio, Indiana, Missouri, Tennessee, West Virginia and Kentucky, the new plant uses technology that will enable AWG to more safely and efficiently produce and package compressed and cryogenic gases. When fully operational, approximately 45 AWG teammates will be based at this facility.      AWG is honored to receive incentive benefits from the Commonwealth of Kentucky for this project. In the Press Release announcing the commissioning, Governor Andy Beshear stated, ““Kentucky companies are continuously reinvesting in our communities and our workforce,” said Gov. Beshear. “Our historic economic momentum wouldn’t be possible without companies like American Welding & Gas buying into Kentucky and what we have to offer. I am happy to welcome this exciting next step for AWG and am looking forward to its continued success here in Georgetown.”      AWG’s CEO Jason Krieger, states, “We are proud of the team that built this facility. We are especially thankful for the assistance from Governor Beshear, Judge/Executive Covington, Mayor Jenkins, the Commonwealth of Kentucky’s Cabinet for Economic Development, our general contractor, Gray Ohio Valley, and our gas equipment manufacturer, Cryogenic Technology Resources (“CTR”). Working as a team, AWG, Gray and CTR have completed this project on schedule and on budget.     American Welding & Gas, Inc. (“AWG”) is delighted to announce that Michael Crambes is joining AWG as Vice President of Business Development based in Texas. Michael brings over 40 years’ experience in the industrial gas business to AWG. Michael started his career in industrial gases in Fresno, CA working for an independent distributor. The company was purchased by a major industrial gas supplier and Michael grew in increasingly responsible roles with his new employer. After leaving that position in 2012, Michael worked for two more independent distributors, leading their Industrial gas businesses. Michael most recently worked for Ratermann Manufacturing as the Director of Customer Experience where he led the inside sales and customer service teams. “Michael’s leadership skills and industry experience will help to accelerate AWG’s growth strategy across the country. Within his role, Michael will be accountable for acquisitions and distributor relationships, reemphasizing AWG’s ability to be an independent peer option in protecting legacies and people. ”, says Jason Krieger. Michael will report to Jason Krieger, President and CEO of AWG.
