#CreditUnions’ not-for-profit structure allows them to reinvest their earnings in their members and communities. Purdue Federal Credit Union used one of their unique programs to help make a #CUDifference in the lives of veterans, first responders, and the community:
Last week we visited our new friends at Courage Rock Stable and presented them with a $2,150 donation raised from our recent Skip-a-Pay promotion. Each December & January, members in good standing have the option of skipping a credit card, vehicle loan, or personal loan payment for a small administrative fee. Purdue Federal then donates a portion of that fee to a local organization. After the tragic loss of their son Seth in 2012, a US Army soldier who died in an apartment fire, Kim Markham found strength and encouragement through the support of friends, family, and the horses at Solid Rock Therapeutic Riding Center in Ohio. From this transformative experience, Courage Rock was born. Inspired by their passion for family and horses, Seth's family created an oasis for equine therapy and education for veterans, first responders, and qualified family members. Their loss became a mission to heal and inspire others, honoring Seth's legacy and the power of love and resilience. Courage Rock offers group and one-on-one options for veterans and first responders to learn riding skills or relationship training, equine therapy for family members of active duty service members and Gold Star families, riding lessons for persons with disabilities, and summer day camps for kids ages 8-13. 🐴 To learn more about Courage Rock and how you can support them by donating or volunteering, visit www.couragerock.rocks 💛🖤
