AmeriCorps recently released the agency's inaugural 2022-2026 Strategic Plan Annual Performance Report. Read more about its significance and findings from AmeriCorps CEO Michael D. Smith: We are delighted to kick off this new annual tradition with a report overflowing with goals met, good news, and inspiration. Since the first AmeriCorps members were sworn in 30 years ago, AmeriCorps has represented a bipartisan, unifying American expression of our strongest ideals. And for the past three decades, the national service movement has united people of all backgrounds, experiences, and beliefs to work towards common goals and serve missions greater than themselves. In 2022, in the wake of a historic pandemic, the need for national service and the opportunity to meet President Biden's call for unity was more apparent than ever. AmeriCorps established a four-year strategic plan in direct response to these factors. Our 2022-2026 strategic plan outlined AmeriCorps' vision to modernize our work, further tell our story, and expand our impact: ☑️ We granted more than $1 billion to organizations providing critical services in their communities. ☑️ We established key partnerships to strengthen the benefits offered to our service participants, expand our reach, and reduce barriers to service, engaging more than $465 million to support AmeriCorps and its programs. ☑️ We launched historic new initiatives like Public Health AmeriCorps to address community needs while creating pathways to careers and expanding national service opportunities. AmeriCorps staff, partners, and especially our members and volunteers work tirelessly to make a difference in our communities. More than ever, our national service movement represents unity over division, light over darkness, and hope when the path is unclear. #Spotted: AmeriCorps CEO Michael D. Smith, AmeriCorps Seniors Director Atalaya Sergi, our Office of Research and Evaluation, partners, and grantees at the annual AmeriCorps Seniors Convening! For three days, we joined our AmeriCorps Seniors champions from coast to coast to recognize their efforts, share how to better support our older adults, and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Senior Companion program. Since its beginning in 1974, the Senior Companion program has provided assistance and friendship to thousands of older adults who have difficulty with daily living tasks, such as shopping or paying bills. For fifty years, AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers have helped fellow older adults live independently longer and provided respite to family caregivers. Join us in recognizing and thanking our volunteers in the Senior Companion program for their support of our nation's older Americans. #Companions #AmeriCorps30 #OlderAdults #Friends
