    There has been a lot of discussion about how much of the AI trend is hype versus reality. Often I see announcements and realize someone just added a chat bot to something they already had. Today I want to talk about a real-world way that the AI hype is actually revolutionary. So much about data engineering is repeating the same steps in different ways. LLMs are actually an incredible way to create software with complex knowledge baked in that can handle ambiguity better. A big part of building great customer data infrastructure is "discovery" work. Profiling and analyzing data sets and mapping them into tools. This is actually a perfect way to use LLMs. The results are staggering in reality. We're talking about 80% (or more) of the effort removed for common tasks, most often with a better result than doing it the old ways.
