Today, we came together to celebrate Amir’s 20-year anniversary with AmSty! We shared stories, enjoyed good food, and reflected on this incredible milestone. His team and colleagues shared memories from his early days—some funny stories about things that wouldn’t fly today, his very first day on the job, and the relationships he’s built over the years. A common theme throughout was how much he’s respected for leading by example and his dedication to the team. It was a great reminder of the impact long-term employees have on our culture and success. Congratulations, Amir, on 20 years—we appreciate all that you do!

The future of polystyrene recycling has never been brighter, with collaboration and innovation driving sustainable solutions forward! In his recent blog post, Tim Barnette, Vice President of Polymers & Sustainability at AmSty, explores the significant progress the industry is making and how the Polystyrene Recycling Alliance (PSRA) is correcting the misconception that polystyrene isn't recyclable. Key Insights: -Polystyrene is vital in many everyday products, including food packaging and medical applications, and safety gear -105 million Americans already have access to recycle multiple types of polystyrene and that number is expected to grow to half to two-thirds by 2030 -Innovative technologies are advancing rapidly, enabling increased recycling and repurposing of post-use polystyrene into new products Polystyrene is a recyclable material with huge potential as an environmental solution. Achieving this potential requires collaboration, that’s why industry leaders like AmSty and Encina, along with many others, are coming together with a shared intention: improving recycling access, driving innovation, and making strategic investments in infrastructure to enable real transformation. #PolystyreneRecycling #Sustainability #Innovation #CircularEconomy https://lnkd.in/gkrDNGPv

Kicking Off Safety with Great Food & Even Better Company! Today, we came together under the pavilion for our Safety Kickoff Celebration, enjoying a beautiful day, a great meal, and meaningful conversations about workplace safety. This event wasn’t just for our team—it was open to the entire plant, including our contractors, reinforcing that safety is a shared responsibility across our site. Along with good food and great company, we took the time to focus on important safety discussions, ensuring that we all remain committed to a culture of safety and well-being. A special thank you to the members of our safety team who not only helped organize the event but also took the time to serve food to employees, demonstrating that safety and teamwork go hand in hand. A big thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this event a success! #SafetyFirst #Teamwork #SafetyCulture #WeAreAmSty

  • AmSty's Tim Barnette, vice president of polymers and sustainability, and some of our Latin America commercial and supply chain team (Jesus De Pombo Angulo, Nasly Castro, Dalila Florez, Diana Rodriguez, Juan Manuel Pardo, Scott Cobb) recently visited the port near our Cartagena, Colombia, plant, where they got a firsthand look at how our products are stored and shipped. It's all part of ensuring seamless operations and top-quality service for our customers.

  • Thank you, Freepoint Eco-Systems, for hosting us at your Hebron facility! It was great to see your process in action and explore how mixed waste plastics, including polystyrene, are being repurposed into valuable new materials. Partnerships like this are key to advancing a circular economy, and we appreciate the opportunity to collaborate toward a more sustainable future!

Turning post-use polystyrene and other plastics into new possibilities. PSRA members Freepoint Eco-Systems and AmSty came together in Hebron, Ohio, to explore how mixed waste plastics are repurposed through pyrolysis at Freepoint Eco-System's plastic upcycling facility. This process transforms waste plastic into a hydrocarbon-rich liquid that can be used to create new consumer products, keeping valuable materials from being disposed of in landfills or incinerated.

Every month, folks at our AmSty office in The Woodlands have a group walk around the Waterway. It’s not only good for the body, it’s allows employees to get to know one another or catch up as we walk. Today is a gorgeous day to get out and breathe fresh air, then back to work!
