Necrotic enteritis (NE) is a devastating disease in the broiler industry, causing economic losses that extend far beyond high mortality rates. In addition, the sudden death caused by the disease often prevents treatment. Seeing the need for an alternative to the labor- and time-intensive conventional diagnostic testing for NE, Ancera recently developed a non-invasive method to monitor Clostridium perfringens levels before clinical symptoms are observed, which could help effectively prevent and treat the disease. “Ancera’s non-invasive PIPER assay delivers preemptive disease identification and efficient monitoring at scale,” writes Margaret Kiss, PhD, Ancera.
