Gatherings like these remind us why we're passionate about serving the software finance community. From startup challenges to IPO complexities, every stage of growth brings unique tax considerations. We're here to tackle those, so finance leaders can focus on the big picture.
The problem with hosting fun dinners on a Tuesday is that the next day feels like a Friday… Last night, Anrok co-hosted a dinner with Pigment at The Progress, a Michelin restaurant in SF. The people and the stories behind some of the most iconic companies and their path to IPO was inspiring. Some of my personal highlights from the night were 🪢 Focus on the marriage journey (IPO readiness), rather than the wedding (the IPO date) 🌎 The world may be big, but our finance world is small. The interconnectedness - from being each other’s auditors to advisors to venture investors - over the years fosters a trusted community that helps each other move faster. 🤯 Rumor confirmed. That IPO in 2011 did go public on QuickBooks. Shout out to Greg Henry, Phyllis Liu, and Jay Peir for sharing their going-public wisdom. To everyone who joined last night, thank you.

Does reducing employee headcount in a state to zero mean I no longer have nexus in that state? 🏠 As many companies like Amazon start to reign back their work-from-home policies, we’re seeing this question more frequently at Anrok. With many aspects of tax, it isn’t that simple. The concept of 'trailing nexus' can extend your tax obligations for several years. For those taking a conservative approach, think of nexus as a one-way street. Learn more about how reducing remote hiring impacts your tax nexus: https://bit.ly/3WR6FiE

🚨 Software leaders, a reminder: Chicago's 9% PPLT tax return is due on August 15th—and it applies to software sales (even though the state of Illinois does not tax SaaS). At Anrok, we specialize in this and more––from tracking exposure in every jurisdiction to filing returns on time, every time. Unsure of your exposure? Talk to us.
