Apex for Youth is proud to be an Official Charity Partner for the 2024 NYC Marathon, where 20 dedicated runners—our volunteers and staff—are going the distance to empower NYC’s low-income and immigrant Asian-American youth. 🌟 Whether they're first-timers or seasoned marathoners, our runners are inspiring the next generation of athletes and proving that anything is possible!  ❤️ We are so so grateful for their support in going the extra mile for Apex for Youth👟 It’s because of support like theirs that we’re able to provide programming to more than 2,500 youth a year. ✨ 📢 Mark your calendars for November 3rd and join us in supporting their journey by donating to their fundraising pages here: https://lnkd.in/giegDnju #nycmarathon #TCSNYCMarathon #apexforyouth #nycrunners #runningforacause

📢 Apex for Youth’s largest Opening Day ever! This September, we brought together over 300 youth and volunteers from our Brooklyn and Manhattan mentoring programs to kick off the school year with unmatched energy and excitement. ✨  With nearly 250 mentor-mentee pairs across all programs, the day was filled with challenge games, arts & crafts, sports, and plenty of relationship-building. Opening Day is more than an event—it’s the cornerstone of our mentoring program, where mentors and mentees break the ice, build trust, and lay the foundation for a year of growth. Thank you to Sunset Park High School for hosting, and to the incredible volunteers from Goldman Sachs and Synchrony who made this event a success. We’re so excited for what’s to come! ❤️ Interested in supporting or volunteering with Apex for Youth? Join us in empowering the next generation of leaders. 💡 Read more about Opening Day here: https://lnkd.in/eyrNrNjH 🎥 : Brittany Winderman

This summer, Apex for Youth hosted 4 Professional Development (PD) sessions as a part of its Summer Career Exploration Program, supplying students with office tours at JPMorganChase and RSM, glimpses of the Spotify panel stage, boba and finance chats, and a chance to network with industry professionals in our very own office. 🧋📊 The goal of these PDs are to provide high school and alumni opportunities to build community and transformative relationships with each other, network with professionals from across NYC, discover new fields of interest, and have our Asian American youth see themselves reflected in professional spaces across many different fields and positions. We envision a world where our youth can reach their fullest potential, overcome barriers with community, and shatter those bamboo ceilings. 🤩 Special thank you to Spotify, JPMorganChase, RSM and to our speakers at our career pannel: Ho Jae Kim, Julia Chiang, Liza Lapira, Jeffrey G., Kristen Sze-Tu, Melody Zheng, Terrence Moduthagam, Eunice Byun, and Howard Chung. 👏 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eXCjzDeF

Last month, National Basketball Association (NBA) Cares hosted over 50 students from Apex for Youth, an organization that empowers underserved Asian and immigrant youth to unlock their full potential – in our New York office to learn from former collegiate AAPI athletes. We had the privilege of hearing from Ace Watanasuparp, Catherine Chao, Eun Jung Smith, Elissa Leung, Ian Yu, Ilene Tsao, John Xu, Kane Ma, Mark Lee. Each panelist shared their unique experience as an athlete and their love for the game, as well as how the game has shaped their leadership and work ethic within their respective careers. Breaking Barriers: Apex for Youth's Summer Internship Programs 🌟 We're proud to conclude another impactful season of our summer internship programs for Asian American youth from first-generation and low-income backgrounds. This summer, our youth gained invaluable career and life experience at organizations including Spotify, 3.1 Phillip Lim, iHeartMedia, and Blue Earth Capital AG. 📊 Did you know? First-gen students often miss out on internships, especially paid ones. However, those who secure internship experience are 90% more likely to land a job right after college! How Apex for Youth is bridging the gap: 💼 Paid opportunities to explore careers 🤝 Professional network building 🌱 Skill development in a supportive environment We're grateful to our generous donors and the JT Tai & Co. Our Sunset Park Field Day was an absolute blast! 🎉 Sunset Park Field Day is a special event extending from our year-round programming Elementary Enrichment and Athletics Programming. We open the event to the entire Sunset Park community in an effort to strengthen relationships with existing Apex families and continue building transformative relationships with prospective families and community partners. Our youth had an amazing time engaging in a variety of activities, from exciting games to creative crafts, all while making new friends and enjoying the beautiful day. The smiles and laughter were contagious, reminding us of the power of coming together. 🫶 We’re so grateful to our incredible partners and volunteers: Voces Ciudadanas Inc, The Fresh Air Fund, Mixteca, Brooklyn Book Bodega, CPC, Womankind, and Genspace for bringing their energy, passion, and unwavering support. Your contributions made this day not only possible but truly unforgettable! ❤️ Events like this are crucial in ensuring that our youth and families continue to have access to the resources and support they need. Together, we’re building a stronger, more connected neighborhood where every child can thrive. We’re excited for what’s next and look forward to many more adventures with our amazing community! 🍎 Video by Christina Li 📸
