Rotary Club of Appleton: Creating Community and Serving Others in the Fox Valley and Beyond

About us

Our vision is to consciously and intentionally foster a diverse, equitable and inclusive culture so that everyone who engages with our Club feels valued, respected and welcomed. Every Tuesday at noon (except the first Tuesday), dozens of Appleton’s business, community and professional leaders gather to network, listen and learn about the key issues affecting our community. Members of Rotary Club of Appleton are part of a worldwide network of more than 1.2 million men and women who make a difference in the lives of people in our community and around the world. Rotarians work together to find solutions for issues of poverty, disease, and illiteracy, and help provide clean water and improve the environment.

  • As we conclude another remarkable Rotary year, the Appleton Rotary Club would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to our members for their amazing work over the past year. Our committees have done fantastic work planning great programs, while tirelessly managing grants, scholarships, and service projects. Special thanks to the board, the executive committee, our hosts at Holidays Pub & Grill, and those who work tirelessly behind the scenes. Their dedication ensures the smooth running of our club's programs. As President Colleen Rortvedt wraps up her year of leadership, we look forward to another impactful year under the leadership of our new President, Erin Schultz-Wege. Here's to another year of making a difference with the Rotary Club of Appleton under Erin's leadership!

  • As my year as Rotary Club of Appleton President draws to an end, the last two weeks have been a pure joy. I've had the privilege of conspiring to surprise three wonderful people with Paul Harris Fellows and a Rotarian of the Year Award. Thanks to my co-conspirators Tony Gonzalez, Barbara Kelly, and Kathy Dreyer.

As our Rotary year draws to a close, club President Colleen Rortvedt and recognitions committee chair Tony Gonzalez recently honored three of our members. Tom Boldt was honored with Paul Harris Fellow for his support of Rotary International. Ronald Altenburg, CPA received a Paul Harris Fellow for his club leadership and role as President from 2022-2023. Pilar Martinez was named our club's Rotarian of the Year for her longstanding work on communications and organizational strategies. She also was honored with a Paul Harris Fellow recognition. Thank you to these deserving Rotarians for embracing Service Above Self!

At last week's Rotary Club of Appleton meeting we had the privilege of learning about The Monthlies Project, a local initiative tackling period poverty. They are ensuring school-aged students have access to menstrual health products, promoting educational equity. Our club has been packing period supplies in support of this initiative and we welcome you to join us. Watch this great video to learn more about this cause and reach out if you want to help out!

  • 🌍 Transforming Lives Through Action! Last week, our club got an update about our service projects in Uganda and Rwanda from Egide Nimubona. Thanks to the Appleton Rotary Foundation - Paul and Elaine Groth World Service Fund, we've been able to achieve milestones that truly change lives. 📘 Literacy: Grants have provided financial support and food for 25 children at Nakivale Camp in Uganda and basic literacy skills to 100 children at Mahama Refugee Camp in Rwanda, fostering brighter futures. 🚑 Healthcare Access: In Uganda, our initiatives have equipped refugee camps with essential medical supplies and healthcare services, improving the quality of life and well-being of countless individuals. 🌱 Environmental Impact: Our commitment to the environment has seen the planting of 5,000 trees to date and we have applied for additional funding to have a greater impact. These plantings combat erosion and improve agricultural conditions for local communities. Each of these projects not only supports immediate needs but also builds a foundation for sustainable development and hope. 👏 A huge thank you to everyone involved, especially to Egide and our partners at the Rotary Club of Mbarara and dedicated volunteers who have made this possible. Your hard work and compassion represent the true spirit of Rotary! 🔗 World service projects are just one way that our club lives out the values of Rotary. For more details about these and other projects and to get involved, visit https://lnkd.in/diyRqzM4
