It's About Property, Not People: Bias, Fair Housing, and the Appraisal - LAST CHANCE! Protect Yourself from the "Biased Appraiser" Attacks This class will cover the requirement needed if you renew with the Appraisal Institute in 2025. As of 2026, this class will be a 7 hour class required every other year. If you have questions on this, please reach out to the chapter office! October 17, 2024 Time: 9am - 11am Instructor: Joshua Walitt, SRA, AI-RRS https://lnkd.in/excNFv5U "It's About Property, Not People" is a timely course to add to your CV and resume. It will boost your credibility with current clients and a built-in defense for potential lawsuits. This course is one small action to prove that you are taking the HUD campaign attack on appraisers seriously. It's a perfect way to "feel like you are doing something" in reaction to the billboards. In case you missed it, Scott Woods, MAI, AI-GRS wrote an article in the last newsletter also encouraging appraisers to take a Bias class - "Take courses on fair housing issues. Let your educational record help demonstrate that you actually care about fair and honest appraisals." Join me in uplifting our profession, Amy Girsch, SRA This course is designed for appraisers and others in the valuation space to understand valuation obligations from the standpoint of bias, fair housing, and discrimination regulations. Focuses include the Fair Housing Act, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), assignment conditions from clients, and reporting. Throughout the course are case examples and discussion prompts to encourage deeper learning and application for students.

Do You Need these Classes for your Designation? LAST CHANCE TO SIGN UP! See the testimony below from Colorado Appraiser Amy Girsch, SRA Advanced Residential Applications and Case Studies Part 1 October 17-18 IN PERSON At CDOT Instructor: Mark Smeltzer Sr. https://lnkd.in/gbEbRZRr Advanced Report Writing and Case Studies Part 2 October 21-25 At CDOT Instructor: Mark Smeltzer Sr. https://lnkd.in/gT7weEXA Testimony: "In 2019 I attended the Appraisal Institute's National Conference in Denver. At that time I met many SRA appraisers who convinced me that the SRA was a worthwhile designation to pursue. At the time I had only been certified for a year. Before I officially declared to become a "candidate for designation" I signed up for Report Writing Part 1 and Part 2 classes because they happened to be offered LOCALLY in Denver. This is the first time, in four years, these classes are back in Denver! I would highly recommend putting your life and business on hold and investing in the advancement of your career. Even if you have no current plans to earn the SRA designation, this class is worth every penny and minute. The casework, teamwork and feedback is invaluable. Peer review and peer teachers are the only way to really gauge how credible your reports are and to learn new techniques. If you are licensed, and not certified, this is for you!! If you are newly certified, this is for you! If you want to take your business to the next level, this is for you! The SRA designation has catapulted my career to new clients, types of assignments and income levels. This class is what started it all. Do this for yourself and your profession, Amy Girsch, SRA
