Meet Chef Dana Herbert, the celebrated winner of TLC’s Cake Boss: The Next Great Baker and the mastermind behind Desserts by Dana. This award-winning Newark, Delaware business owner and University of Delaware alum is redefining campus dining with his delectable creations. Since 2022, Desserts by Dana has been a standout at UD, starting as a rotating Local Restaurant Row partner and now establishing a permanent pop-up bakery in the student center. From cupcakes to macarons, and made-to-order birthday cakes, their offerings are a hit among students and staff alike. We celebrated an amazing week at NACUFS! The UNC Chapel Hill team took home several awards, including Silver: Special Diet Program of the Year. Additionally, we had inspiring sessions from Erica Nehrling, Dianne Sutherland, Emily Svennevik, and Kelli Wood, MS, RD, LDN on bridging the nutrient gap for those with food allergies, and from Elon University on enhancing student engagement through dining.
