Families will get real relief for their pocketbooks to offset the cost of converting from residential oil heating systems and electric resistance heat to energy efficient heat pumps in Alaska’s southern and central coastal communities. https://bit.ly/4ftFNgT

Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) just got an award from NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration that meets the moment: their project aims to help nearly 100 communities address coastal problems like rapid erosion and permafrost thaw, which in turn have led to concerns about food sovereignty, plans for community relocation and other changes. Nearly immediately, ANTHC posted a job that will be crucial to this programming. Story below. I'll put the job link in the comments. I can't imagine a better way to effect the lives of rural Alaskans.

The DOE Office of Technology Transitions is funding Sitkana and Sandia National Laboratories to generate electricity with hydroelectric devices on fishing vessels that would otherwise be idle in the winter, boosting the region’s energy supply and also the income for the vessel owners.
