"Are You Dense" Alliance

Education

Bringing awareness about the risks of dense breast tissue and the links to breast cancer.

About us

The ARE YOU DENSE Alliance is a collaborative network of the Are You Dense? Foundation (501c3) established to bring awareness about the health risks of breast density and its links to cancer. We support the Cappello family (founders of the "Are You Dense" Advocacy org) to help bring recognition to their initial causes while adding new medical, scientific and public educational initiatives that align with their perspectives. The "Are You Dense" Alliance is a collective of the AngioFoundation (501c3) and the NY Cancer Resource Alliance. Any and all contributors collected for this page are (unpaid) volunteers providing submissions, articles, reviews, videos and reports without commercial links to the Are You Dense Foundation or the Are You Dense Advocacy groups.

  • MEET THE NATIONAL COALITION FOR ULTRASOUND SCREENING The Women’s Health Collaborative (WHC) officially launches what educational director Dr. Roberta Kline calls “the ultimate alliance of women’s health champions”.  This united volunteer group consists of public resources for women’s cancer, dense breast advocacy, research foundations of complex disorders (ie. Endometriosis and pelvic floor issues) and medical specialists from the private sector. This coalition aligns the promotion of ultrasound technology as the common life-saving solution for affordable and effective medical screening programs.   https://lnkd.in/ek_Nt42Z

  • "BOTH MY PARENTS HAD CANCER... I NEED TO TEST! Samantha Hunt, 24 is a young cancer awareness advocate due mostly to the upbringing of two cancer survivors who are outspoken about environmental cancers and proactive testing ("Get Checked NOW!" program). She is in a graduate program for social work and grew up in a household in support of prevention and early detection. Since she was 9 years old, Samantha took on personal studies on breast cancer when she watched her mother (Jennifer) undergo a bilateral mastectomy for early-stage breast cancer. Samantha's father was diagnosed with early-stage prostate cancer, and her maternal aunt also had breast cancer. By her late teens into her college years, Samantha was convinced that she needed to have early screening, which is when she discovered she had dense breast tissue- a condition that is present in over half of women in the U.S.  https://lnkd.in/eXPHxpQw

  • BREAST CANCER INCIDENCE ON LONG ISLAND: ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT Breast cancer is a current health concern, affecting millions of women globally. In 2023, it was the leading cause of death due to cancer in the United States (ref). While genetic factors and lifestyle choices play significant roles in its development, emerging evidence suggests that environmental exposures also contribute to breast cancer incidence rates. Long Island, New York, has garnered attention due to its elevated breast cancer rates compared to national averages, prompting investigations into the potential environmental factors driving this phenomenon.  https://lnkd.in/eKEDD_BF

  • MUSIC AND CAUSES- By Joe Cappello There is a tremendous connection between music and the community of charitable people who believe in the magic of music. God gave us the love for music... and it does bring people and families together. It can make you cry or laugh or clap your hands and stomp your feet. It transcends and moves you! Music is magic, and that's what we produce here once a year at the Are You Dense? MusicFest. My wife (Nancy) and I started Are You Dense? to spread the word about dense breast tissue. We made enough noise to make a difference in the state of Connecticut and eventually, around the world. The mission truly enlightened all our followers and it's brought us to a point where we've actually seen a tremendous need for research and change in the clinical community for the better. Even though my wife has passed five years ago, we continue to carry on this mission. That's why it's so important to me personally. I don't know what other thing we could do to make such an impact on people's lives. https://lnkd.in/eZ5hFwNu
