A HUGE thank you to Olympic Gold Medalist Torri Huske for recognizing AFAC at her welcome home celebration yesterday - thanks to the generosity of our community, 920 pounds of food donations were collected for our neighbors in need! Huske, an #ArlingtonCounty native and graduate of Yorktown High School, asked attendees to bring non-perishable and canned food donations to support food insecure families and children in Arlington. We were thrilled to welcome her home and celebrate her outstanding athletic achievements while collaborating to further AFAC's mission. Swipe to see more photos from Torri's food drive celebration! #afacfeeds #fooddrive #volunteer

During the month of #September, the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) organizes and takes part in events throughout Arlington to recognize #HungerActionMonth, a nationwide campaign mobilizing the public to take action on the issue of #hunger. Over 3,800 families in need come to AFAC each week to access #fresh and #healthy supplemental groceries - freeing up tightly stretched funds for child and health care, rent, and other necessary financial demands.
