Hello, and hope your week is progressing well! Welcome to Armourgate Radio Communications, and thank you for being part of today's broadcast themed, "Developing a National Human Capital Policy," with Tolu Omodara. In today's rapidly evolving world, developing a robust national human capital policy is essential for fostering sustainable growth and competitiveness. Human capital, which refers to the knowledge, skills, and capabilities of a country's workforce, is the bedrock of national productivity and economic resilience. A well articulated human capital policy ensures that the workforce is not only skilled, but also adaptable to the changing demands of the global economy. Join Tolu Omodara in today's episode on Mixlr 5:00pm WAT/ 12 noon ET via https://lnkd.in/dw22sdS9 An effective human capital policy prioritizes "agility over ability." Agility emphasizes the ability to adapt, innovate, and respond to unforeseen challenges, whereas ability often refers to fixed skills or competencies. In an era of constant technological advancements and shifting market needs, a workforce that is agile is better positioned to pivot, and adjust to new circumstances. Agility enables individuals to transcend traditional skills, making them versatile and resilient. By embedding agility into a national human capital framework, policymakers can empower citizens to continuously up-skill and re-skill, fostering a workforce that thrives in dynamic environments. An effective human capital policy should also embrace the principle of learning-by-doing. Real-world experience is an invaluable teacher, and hands-on learning allows individuals to apply theoretical knowledge, to practical scenarios. This approach fosters a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, as individuals are encouraged to experiment, make mistakes, and learn from them. By integrating learning-by-doing opportunities such as internships, apprenticeships, and project-based work into the national framework, a country can build a workforce that is both skilled, as well as confident, in practical application. Moreover, promoting learning by doing supports a cycle of lifelong learning, essential for staying relevant in the modern economy. Through policies that encourage experiential learning at all stages of life, the workforce can remain adaptable to new skills and technologies, which is critical for economic growth. Developing a national human capital policy that emphasizes agility and experiential learning, is essential for building a resilient and competitive workforce. Such a policy will not only equip individuals with the skills they need today, but also prepare them to face the challenges of tomorrow, thus engendering a stronger & more innovative society. Be a part of this exciting episode, see you by 5:00pm WAT/12noon ET. Thank you!

Hello, and hope you've had a great week! We're excited to present an informative session, "Inflation Dynamics & Economic Development" with Dr. Titilola Ogunsona. This program offers a deep dive into complexities of inflation, its impact on economic development & policy measures to mitigate the negative effects. Tune in on Fridays at 12 noon ET/5:00 pm WAT, for insightful discussions, via Mixlr https://lnkd.in/eg-Ds-6P Inflation is the rate at which price level for goods & services rises, reducing purchasing power of currency. It's a natural economic phenomenon that occurs when demand outstrips supply, or production costs increase. While moderate inflation is seen as a sign of economic growth, excessive inflation harms the economy. Under controlled inflation, consumers are incentivized to spend & invest, not hold on to cash. Inflation can benefit borrowers, as real value of debt decreases over time. This enables businesses & individuals pay off loans. In an inflationary environment, wages tend to rise, which can increase disposable income for workers, fostering economic activity. Conversely, inflation reduces real value of money. Moderate inflation can be a sign of a growing economy, encouraging firms to invest in more production However, higher inflation creates uncertainty about future prices. Inflation often hurts low-income households more severely, as they tend to spend a larger proportion of income on necessities like food & housing. Policymakers can adopt various strategies, to manage inflation. Central banks may raise interest rates, which can slow economic growth & increase cost of borrowing for consumers & businesses. They can also use monetary policy tools, such as adjusting interest rates, to control inflation. By raising interest rates, borrowing becomes more expensive, reducing consumer spending & business investment, cooling off an overheating economy. Governments can, likewise, reduce inflation by cutting public spending, or increasing taxes. This reduces amount of money circulating in the economy, controlling demand. Governments can, similarly, focus on improving productivity & efficiency in the economy, ensuring supply meets demand, without triggering inflation. Managing exchange rate can also help mitigate imported inflation. A strong domestic currency can make imports cheaper, reducing inflationary pressures. In extreme cases, governments may implement temporary price controls on essential goods, to protect consumers from runaway inflation. This can, however, lead to shortages & is often not sustainable. Inflation is an inevitable part of any dynamic economy, but understanding its complexities is key to managing its effects. Insights from Dr. Ogunsona's program will help you grasp the theoretical & practical aspects of inflation. Don't miss out on these enlightening discussions that'll help you stay informed & ahead in understanding inflation, every Friday. See you there!

Hello, and hope you're doing great! We're glad to welcome you to an exciting ARC program titled, "Trendy Issues in the Geopolitical Economy." We'll explore matters shaping the global economy with our host, Abiodun Abari, focusing on significant & current geopolitical issues. He'll delve into topics shaping global economics & how geopolitical tensions & partnerships influence these trends. This theme is very relevant, given complexities of international relations & the global economy. Time: 12noon ET/5 pm WAT Platform: https://lnkd.in/d4qmZjWm The geopolitical economy has been shaped by key power blocs. Following World War II, United States (USA) & Soviet Union (USSR) emerged as dominant superpowers, leading to a period of intense geopolitical rivalry, known as the Cold War (1947-1991). This saw the world divided into two spheres of influence. USA, the Capitalist Bloc, advocated for capitalism, liberal democracy & free markets. Its economic policies promoted trade liberalization & technological innovation. USSR, the Communist Bloc, stood for communism, with a centrally planned economy. USSR led the Eastern Bloc & established socialist regimes across Eastern Europe & other regions. The competition between these two blocs impacted global trade, military alliances & economic systems. The Cold War also saw establishment of organizations like NATO (led by USA) & the Warsaw Pact (led by USSR), both of which influenced military & economic alignments. The dissolution of USSR in 1991 marked a significant shift in global power dynamics, leaving USA as sole superpower, till rise of other global economic powers. The BRICS group comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China & South Africa emerged as a significant bloc. Brazil, the largest economy in Latin America, is known for its commodities & agricultural exports. Russia is a major player in energy exports (Oil & Gas) & a key military power. India is known for its IT & services sectors, as well as a booming manufacturing industry. China, the world's second-largest economy, is a manufacturing powerhouse & a global leader in infrastructure investment & technology. South Africa, by its inclusion, added inter-continental significance to the group. BRICS seeks to create an alternative to Western-dominated financial institutions like IMF & the World Bank. Their goal is to push for a multipolar global economic order, where emerging markets have a louder voice in global governance. "Trendy Issues in the Geopolitical Economy" offers a timely exploration of these topics, from Cold War's impact on today's geopolitical alignments, to significance of BRICS in reshaping the global economy. You can expect in-depth discussions on how historical & contemporary alliances, economic strategies & power dynamics shape the world’s economic landscape. So, please, join us for an informative & thought-provoking discussion on latest trends in the geopolitical economy. Don't miss it!

It's our pleasure to welcome you, afresh, to the last quarter of 2024; and our delight to introduce a new, very informative, and highly engaging series on Armourgate Radio Communications titled, "Trendy Issues in the Geopolitical Economy." This will be anchored by Business Management expert and Political analyst, Abiodun Abari. Do join this very interesting broadcast every Wednesday, by 5:00pm WAT/12:00 noon ET as Mr. Abari shares expert geopolitical insights, as they relate to economic growth and development. The geopolitical economy is a complex interplay between political power, international relations, and global economic systems. Historically, this field has been shaped by the actions of dominant nations, the formation of alliances, the exploitation of resources, and the quest for economic supremacy. However, in recent years, the landscape of geopolitical economy has become increasingly dynamic, driven by emerging economies, technological advancements, and unprecedented global challenges, such as climate change and the pandemic's impacts. As the global economy recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic, new geopolitical trends have emerged. These trends reflect the shifts in power dynamics, the realignment of trade relations, and the rise of multipolarity, where multiple countries are asserting economic and political influence, disrupting traditional global hierarchies. Key issues such as trade wars, energy transitions, supply chain disruptions, and financial decoupling are, increasingly, central to understanding today’s geopolitical economy. Thus, in this dynamic series laid upon the foundation of expert perspectives, Mr. Abari will be exploring the current issues shaping the geopolitical economy, supported by relevant statistics and recent examples. He will, critically, discuss how these issues in the global landscape have a profound impact on economic structures, political alliances, trade policies, and market dynamics. Recent and ongoing cases such as the U.S.-China Trade Relations, Technological war and Decoupling, the Global Energy Crisis and the Russian-Ukraine Conflict, the BRICS expansion, the Decline of the Dollar, and the push for the Chinese Yuan will be considered, alongside other geopolitical trends. This program is rich, robust and enlightening, as it turns our focus on the interplay of wits and politics in the global scene, and the effect on the international market. We look forward to you joining us, every Wednesday. See you there!
