🎉📞 📻 Happy 99th Anniversary, Army MARS: Celebrating a Legacy of Service and Innovation 📡 🌐 🛰️ On November 1, 2024, the Army Military Auxiliary Radio System (MARS) proudly celebrated its 99th Anniversary. Since 1925, dedicated citizen volunteers have exemplified Army values—Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage—by supporting the United States Department of Defense (DoD) in times of crisis and in cyber-denied environments. These skilled radio operators serve as a critical lifeline, ensuring resilient communications when it matters most. Operating under U.S. Army Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM), MARS volunteers continually evolve to meet the demands of the 21st century by mastering both traditional radio and modern cybersecurity skills. From disaster relief to support for Army National Guard missions, MARS volunteers stand ready to serve, reflecting a timeless commitment to our nation. 🎈 Here’s to 99 years of unwavering service and to the future of Army MARS! 🎉 #ArmyMARS | #99thAnniversary | #HFCommunication | #MilitarySupport | #CyberSecurity | #AmateurRadio | #CitizenVolunteers | #AlwaysReady | US Army | US Army TRADOC | US Army Cyber Center of Excellence 📝: Tài Doick, U.S. Army Signal School 🎨: https://lnkd.in/eknutjxG

🏆 Chili, Camaraderie, Costumes❗ The U.S. Army Signal School headquarters staff held its annual Signal Hall Chili Cook-off competition on Halloween. Costumes were not required but strongly encouraged. Seven staff competed in the cook-off, but only one walked away with their name added to the back of the winner’s plaque and bragging rights for the year. A panel of command sergeants major sampled and judged each chili, rating them in several categories such as taste, appearance and heat. Capt. Mohammad Karimi, Operations Division, wowed the judges with his concoction and was crowned “2024 Signal Hall Chili Champion.” Using an otherwise traditional chili recipe, Karimi personalized his chili by adding less traditional ingredients including cinnamon sugar. “I also used beef bacon fat to sear and cook the ground beef to give the meat extra flavor,” Karimi said. “Finally, I slow-cooked the chili overnight for five hours.” Coming in second place was Master Sgt. Javonte Staten, Office Chief of Signal, followed by Allen Ryan, NCO Academy Training and Development, who took third place. 👏 Many thanks to everyone who participated and made it a fun-filled day! #SignalProud | #SignalStrong | #ChiliCookoff | #PositiveCulture | US Army | US Army Cyber Center of Excellence | U.S. Army Signal School Commandant 📝 📸: Laura Levering, U.S. Army Signal School

*** Bridging the Gap: Recent WOBC Graduates Transition from Training to Real-World Operations at Fort Liberty *** WOBC graduates from the 255A Data Operations Warrant Officer Basic Course recently got a firsthand look at real-world operations during a visit to the 82nd Airborne Division Sustainment Brigade at Fort Liberty, North Carolina on October 24, 2024. It wasn’t just about concepts; it was about stepping into the roles they’ll soon be taking on as Signal Warrant Officers. This hands-on experience, organized as a staff ride by the 82nd Airborne Division Sustainment Brigade and the 442nd Signal Battalion’s Signal Leader Development College (SLDC), aimed to bring WOBC graduates closer to the operational challenges they’ll face as Signal Warrant Officers. It was all about turning classroom lessons into tangible skills. 📢 Here are some of the key highlights: 🔶 Understanding the Roles and Responsibilities of a Signal Warrant Officer Graduates engaged directly with seasoned Signal Warrant Officers from various units, both in-person and via Microsoft Teams, to gain insights into managing tactical communication networks and supporting mission command. These conversations reinforced the transition from classroom instruction to field-based applications, providing clarity on their critical impact in maintaining communication and mission readiness. 🔶 Integration into the 82nd Airborne Division's Communications Exercise The recent graduates actively participated in a communications exercise led by the 82nd Airborne Division. The exercise focused on the Integrated Tactical Network (ITN), Mission Partner Environment (MPE), and preparations for Large Scale Combat Operations (LSCO), all of which are essential to modern Army operations. The ITN enhances secure and adaptable communication in dynamic combat situations, while the MPE facilitates collaboration with allied forces. Preparing for LSCO ensures readiness for complex, large-scale engagements. These concepts align with the Army’s modernization efforts and 2030 Vision, reinforcing WOBC principles in a real-world operational context, enhancing the graduates’ understanding and readiness. A special thank you to Chief Warrant Officer Two Antwain Holston and the 82nd Airborne Division, U.S. Army for their leadership and dedication in organizing this visit. Your efforts were instrumental in providing this meaningful, hands-on experience for the next generation of Signal Warrant Officers. The visit highlighted how essential operational exposure is in bridging the gap between academic instruction and field readiness, equipping the Warrant Officer community to excel in modern Army communications. #SignalCorps | #WarrantOfficerDevelopment | #ArmyModernization | #OperationalReadiness | #82ndAirborneDivision | #LeadershipInAction | #BeAllYouCanBe | US Army | US Army TRADOC | US Army Cyber Center of Excellence 📸 📝: Signal Leader Development College (SLDC), U.S. Army Signal School

Yesterday we recognized THE Chief Operator of the first women’s switchboard operator unit. Grace Banker was, is, remains, a legend in the Signal Corps for her courage and leadership, for being among the very first female Soldiers in our Army. I am in awe of her bravery, for answering the call in 1918 and leading those amazing women. I can only hope to live up to her legacy and to continue to inspire future generations of our great Regiment. Thanks to COL (ret) Linda Jantzen for bringing everyone together and keeping the memories of the Hello Girls (switchboard operators!!) at the forefront of our minds.
