Art Against Ageism

We are so thrilled about our partnership with Mather on this incredible initiative aimed at boosting positive age beliefs and raising awareness of ageism. Via an online workshop that includes the distribution of art kits to 300 people 55 and older from across the U.S., participants will create a story quilt as they learn about artistic activism and activist artists along the way. 🖼️🎨 We can’t wait to see how it unfolds and to share the evaluation data once it’s complete! #agingisliving #storyquilts #artisticactivism

We are so excited to be partnering with Forest Hills of DC on a 2024 AARP Community Challenge Grant this year!! As part of the launch of our initiative, which will feature a dynamic public art installation at Forest Hills, our Co-Founders Meg LaPorte and Jordan Evans conducted a workshop last week with residents, staff, volunteers, family members and more. 🎨🖼️ They discussed ageism, the impact it has on people and systems, and how the project will unfold and include beautiful portraits from photographer Marvin Bowser. 📸 As we work toward the installation this September, we are partnering with DC-based organizations, such as Tenleytown Main Street and others, to encompass the community in this innovative work that we hope will bring greater visibility to the people who live and work at Forest Hills — and nursing homes and assisted living communities everywhere.

On this Juneteenth, we are excited to amplify the art of a movement to raise awareness of Juneteenth with Absolute Equality, an organization that use public art and creativity to educate and engage communities in the social dialogue about racial equity and social justice while highlighting the significance of Juneteenth and the eternal pursuit of freedom and Absolute Equality.
