As Emerline reminds us, the most powerful stories brands can tell around AI are inherently human. Check out Anushka's article to get our full take.
"The stories that are best designed to strike a chord with modern-day audiences don’t emphasize technology’s ability to act human; they highlight its potential to knock mundane tasks off our to-do lists so we have the time to actually be human." → A poignant and thoughtful piece by Anushka, on the latest slew of AI commercials and how with a few shifts, they could hit the mark. (Shoutout to Lance for the perfect image to go with this POV!) 🌲 Our teams at Artemis Ward have been deep in the GenAI forests with our partners throughout this year. To stay grounded, we constantly remind each other of an important point: Beyond the iterative grind of use case testing and pushing boundaries in our stories, the narrative being told needs to hold as true as possible to what would make someone's life just a bit easier. #GenAI #ParisOlympics #BrandNarrative

Today's the day: Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo finally took a dip in the Seine — an act meant to demonstrate that, after spending $1.5 billion in clean-up efforts, the river is now safe enough to welcome swimmers during the upcoming Olympic games. Hidalgo's swim was actually supposed to happen on June 23 — and President Emmanuel Macron was slated to join her. But sometimes detoxification takes a little longer than expected. Perhaps more interesting than the spectacle itself is the way that French Gen Zers took to social in the month or two leading up to the plunge to make their opinions known in ways that are distinctly Gen Z. Artemis Ward's Olivia DuCharme serves up a sharp — and entertaining — look at how French youth have responded to the Seine swim by leaning into the "weaponization of absurdity," which reflects the unique and nuanced ways that rising generations are showing up on social to connect with each other and with the world around them.
Why Shitting in the Seine Is a Slay on Social

Ten years of Good Work, Good People, and one great party to cap it off 🎉 To celebrate a decade in the game, we threw it down at Wild Days DC — and had a little old-literature fun with a futuristic twist. Throughout the night, guests submitted a word to our AI-powered poet, who in turn whipped up a limerick about Artemis Ward's future. Check out some of the cheeky results below, alongside some stellar party pics shot by the talented Mauricio Castro. Special thanks to all our colleagues, clients, and friends who raised a glass with us, to everyone who we’ve worked with over the years, and shout out to Andrew McGill for helping bring our AI activation to life. See ya for the 20th!

Marketing (and the world) may be changing rapidly, but one equation holds true: brand truth + consumer truth = audience traction. AW Co-founder and CEO Colin Moffett recently joined Kevin Edwards on the Real Leaders Podcast to talk about strategy, creativity, and reaching audiences in the modern era. 2023 was a year of connection for AW. From the front lines of consumer brand social media to the depths of legacy comms projects, at AW, threading together observations, strategy, and creativity is how we do our best work. That’s why we take on state-of-the-art tech storytelling for clients like Meta alongside visual evolutions for associations like the American Institute of Architects, plus so many more. Consider this our annual cheers to good work, good people. It’s been an amazing year — and we can’t wait for the next one. See you in 2024 ✌️

What do you like to read? That might be an easy question for you, but for preK–5 students, it can sometimes feel like a mystery. That’s why Alvin Irby, and the minds behind Barbershop Books, Inc. created Reading So Lit™, an online platform that puts the power to explore, understand, and articulate reading preferences in young reader's hands. To help the platform enter orbit, we designed a visual identity for Reading So Lit™ inspired by the wonder, empowerment, and discovery of opening a good book — enabling kids everywhere to say with confidence: “Me? I’m a reader.” 😁📚
