#precision matters in #luxuryretail Scenes from a recent site survey in Coral Gables.  We survey floor heights on a tight grid to create an accurate benchmark. As soon as the track work and framing are installed, we are onsite again - confirming all dimensions, wall locations, column locations and other architectural elements to identify any discrepancies between site conditions and construction drawings.  And we communicate that information to the entire project team. While summer means relaxation for many, in our construction world, the heat is on. We had many conversations with our clients and partners this spring about how to address ever-tighter deadlines as their new projects kicked off. All too often, stone procurement and fabrication remain in the final bid package – creating risk in the schedule, potentially driving late changes to design details, or additional costs including accelerated freight. We encourage our partners to think differently about stone. By engaging us early, we can source material during the design phase (or during program planning for rollouts) – material that is consistent with the design vision, available in the right quantities, and ready to ship earlier in the schedule. We can advise and collaborate on technical detailing to roll into the CD’s, and to maximize the yield from each slab. And we can prefabricate some elements in the shop, reducing installation time onsite and improving the quality of the execution. Allowing our partners to sweat a little less this summer. Yes, that is the renowned British jeweler Mappin & Webb on Regent Street in London. We are currently working across the pond for one of our clients who will be opening a boutique within the historic emporium. Mappin & Webb's patrons have included Queen of France Marie-Antoinette, the Empress of Russia, and Princess Grace of Monaco. We have an appetite for #complexity For Hakkasan's 15,000 square foot New York City location, we supplied, fabricated and installed Calacatta Oro cut-to-size panels and black granite floor slabs for the entry corridor, as well as limestone flooring and custom waterjet Calacatta panels and privacy screens throughout the restaurant. The height of #luxury, literally. For the Louis Vuitton NYC flagship renovation in 2014, we fabricated and installed the stonework panels cladding the three-story four-sided Wall of Wonder. We also installed the floor pavers for the original build-out in 2003, which were cut-to-size based on our shop drawings. We love #complexity.
