🌟 Highlights from our Literacy through Art Program at Penn Treaty School 🌟 We are thrilled to share some wonderful moments from our recent Literacy through Art initiative at Penn Treaty School! 📚🎨 In our latest session, we introduced students to the powerful book Brown Girl Dreaming by Jacqueline Woodson. Before diving into the book, we explored its cover and discussed the prestigious awards it has received, including the National Book Award and the Newberry Honor Book Award. We also read insightful reviews from the New York Times Book Review and the Wall Street Journal, setting the stage for a rich literary journey. We presented Brown Girl Dreaming not just as a narrative, but as a beautiful collection of poems. Students were encouraged to engage with the book in various ways. They could either read from the beginning or jump to specific poems that caught their interest.
