About us
Established in 1920, the ASCE Metropolitan Section is the local New York City metro section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). It represents Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island, Nassau and Suffolk counties on Long Island, Rockland and Westchester counties in the Lower Hudson Valley. It is a highly regarded professional organization that serves civil engineers in diverse technical groups by helping them to raise awareness, stay abreast of industry news and events, network, receive professional development credits, collaborate as well as mentor both younger civil engineers and students. With over 5,000 members strong, the Met Section is one of the largest and most active ASCE sections in the United States with talented, vibrant and dedicated members committed to its ongoing growth and success. Kids Week at the Intrepid - Volunteers Needed! The ASCE Younger Member Forum is looking for volunteers to help us at the Intrepid Museum during Kids week on Thursday 2/20/2025 through Saturday 2/22/2025. Lunch will be served as well as free admission into the intrepid! The event takes place between the hours of 10:00am to 5:00pm, there will be an AM shift from 9:30am to 1:30pm and a PM shift from 1:30PM to 5:30PM. Our goal in participating in the event is to spark passion and curiosity of kids that may one day aspire to be engineers. The kids will have an opportunity to construct their own out of dry spaghetti/toothpicks and marshmallows/clay. See the link below for a video explaining the hands-on portion of the activity we will be doing on Thursday through Saturday. Please familiarize yourself with the instructions and be prepared to discuss your engineering experience with visitors to our booth. January 23rd (Thursday) - Program Meeting 1 February 20th (Thursday) - Program Meeting 2 March 20th (Thursday) - Program Meeting 3 April 24th (Thursday) - Time Out Market Social May 1st (Thursday) - Program Meeting 4 Food will be provided at all program meetings.
